Hellboy is a fictional superhero created by writer-artist Mike Mignola. The character first appeared in San Diego Comic #2 (August 1993), and made his real film debut in 2004. Since then, several sequels have been filmed, and in 2019 a reboot with different actors was released.
We decided to collect 10 films similar to Hellboy, which fans of this hero will surely appreciate.
10 Men in Black (1997)
After a government agency first made contact with aliens in 1961, alien refugees live in secret on Earth, masquerading as humans. “Men in Blackis a secret agency that watches over these aliens, protects Earth from intergalactic threats, and uses memory erasing neuralizers to keep alien activity a secret.

9. Warlock (1989)
Warlock – a dangerous criminal accused of witchcraft, captured in Boston in 1691 by the witch hunter Giles Redfern. He is sentenced to death for his activities, including the death of Redfern’s fiancée, but before the execution, Satan appears and sends the warlock to the 80s in Los Angeles.
Redfern manages to enter the portal after him, and both of them find themselves in a world in which they do not believe in magic for a long time. An evil sorcerer wants to collect a magic book and with its help turn the universe back, and the hunter seeks to prevent this.
8. Spawn (1997)
SWAT agent Simmons is sent by his superior, Jason Wynn, on a mission to infiltrate a biochemical weapons plant in North Korea. Wynn ordered his best hitman, Jessica Priest, to kill Al after completing the mission, which she does. After Simmons’ death, Wynn sets fire to the body, causing a fire and an explosion.
Simmons arrives in Hell, where one of Hell’s rulers, Malbolgia, offers him Faust’s agreement: if he becomes his eternal servant and army leader in Armageddon, he can return to Earth to see his bride, Wanda Blake.
Simmons accepts the offer and returns to the world of the living, in which 5 years have passed. The wife remarried his best friend, whom his daughter considers the father, and the demons demand the fulfillment of the contract. 5. Ghost Rider (2007)
During the time of the Wild West, the demon Mephistopheles sends his bounty hunter, the cursed Ghost Rider, to retrieve the Treaty of St. Venganza: a contract that gives control over a thousand souls. Seeing that the contract will give Mephistopheles the power to bring Hell to Earth, the Horseman refuses and hides the contract.
In 1986, Mephistopheles turns to 17-year-old Johnny Blaze, offering to cure his father’s cancer in exchange for the guy’s soul. The next morning, Johnny wakes up to find that his cancer has been cured, but his father dies anyway from burns from an accident. Johnny blames Mephistopheles for causing his father’s death, but the demon believes that their contract has been fulfilled and promises to find him again.
In 2007, Johnny became a famous motorcycle stunt rider and stumbled upon his ex-lover Roxanne Simpson, who became a reporter, and once he left her after the death of his father. Meanwhile, Mephistopheles’ son, Blackheart, comes to Earth with three fallen angels associated with the elements of air, earth, and water, with the goal of finding San Venganza’s lost contract. Mephistopheles makes Johnny new ghost rider and offers to return his soul if he defeats Blackheart.

In 1967, a vampire attacked a pregnant woman, causing her to go into premature labor. Doctors were able to save the child, but the woman died from an unknown infection.
Thirty years later, in 1997, this child became a vampire hunter, Blade. He is strong and hardy like a vampire, but devoid of their weaknesses: he is not afraid of sunlight, silver or holy water.
In the summer of 2019, the upcoming reboot of the cinematic universe was officially announced, but without Wesley Snipes: instead, the role of Blade will be played by the Oscar-winning actor Mahershala Ali.
