The talk of a solo film about Venom has been on the sidelines of Hollywood for a very long time, but year after year the matter could not get off the ground. Finally, the film was shot and released, collecting a decent box office and rave reviews. The second part is now only a matter of time, and the wait will not be as long as the first.

10 Predator: Dark Ages (2015)
We’ll start with James Booth’s short, which serves as a prequel to the original 1987 Predator starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, although it’s not officially in-universe.
«Predator: Dark Ages” tells about the events of the XNUMXth century, when the Templars encountered an alien killer. Their detachment goes in search of him, and they are led by a Saracen who has already encountered him once.
Of course, the Predator easily copes with a whole detachment armed with swords, and only one Templar and that same Saracen remains alive.
The running time of 27 minutes seems ridiculous, but it was enough for this story. There are no unnecessary dialogues or shots: only the most important.
9. Mask (1994)
The cult comedy with Jim Carrey has a lot in common with Venom, no matter how strange it may sound.
Both there and there the main character is an unremarkable person, until one day he encounters an object that connects with him, endowing him with incredible abilities.
Mask, unfortunately, does not communicate with the character of Jim Carrey (although the dialogues could turn out to be killer) and does not have its own consciousness, but the film does not get worse from this.
Recently, there have been many rumors about a remake, and this information causes twofold impressions: on the one hand, I would like to see a new story with a new hero, and on the other hand, there are high chances of failure. It is not known whether another actor can play at the level of Carrey, and with remakes of the classics of the 90s, Hollywood does not always manage to be careful.
8. Captain America: Civil War (2016)
In 1991, brainwashed super-soldier James “Bucky” Barnes is sent from a Hydra base in Siberia to intercept a vehicle carrying a suitcase of super-soldier serum.
In the present, about a year after Ultron’s defeat in Sokovia, Steve Rogers, Natasha Romanoff, Sam Wilson, and Wanda Maximoff prevent Brock Rumlow from stealing a bioweapon from a lab in Lagos.
Rumlow explodes in an attempt to kill Rogers, but Maximoff telekinetically restrains the explosion and throws him into the sky, damaging a nearby building and accidentally killing several aid workers from Wakanda.
The U.S. Secretary of State informs the Avengers that the United Nations (UN) is preparing to enact the Sokovian Treaty and set up a group to oversee and control the team.
Avengers Divided: Tony Stark maintains oversight due to his role in creating Ultron and the devastation of Sokovia, while Rogers has more faith in his own judgment than the government.
Meanwhile, Helmut Zemo tracks down and kills an old Hydra member, stealing a book containing trigger words that activate Barnes’ brainwashing.
At a conference in Vienna where the Accords are to be ratified, a bomb kills King T’Chaka of Wakanda.
Video footage reveals that the bomber is Barnes, whom T’Chaka’s son T’Challa promises to kill, and Captain America tries to protect him, further strife with Tony.

7. Incredible Hulk (2008)
«The incredible Hulk”was an ambitious project, for which the studio did not spare $ 150 million. Edward Norton, Liv Tyler and Tim Roth were invited, but alas, the fees amounted to only 263 million dollars.
Nevertheless, the green giant performed by Norton deserves attention: the Fight Club star is in no way inferior to Mark Ruffalo in charisma.
6. Predator (2018)
«PredatorThe 2018 sample was filmed by Shane Black, who had previously worked on the third part of Iron Man.
In addition, he took part in writing the script for the first “Predator” and even played a small role in it. All this gave fans hope for the revival of the franchise, but not everyone was pleased with the result: an overabundance of flat jokes and holes in the plot did not allow the picture to earn much or become a masterpiece.
5. Spider-Man 3: The Enemy in Reflection (2007)
The final film in the Sam Raimi trilogy in our selection is most appropriate, since Venom is present in it, although it bears little resemblance to what we saw performed by Tom Hardy.

Eddie Brock and Venom himself are given a secondary role here and the character is not really revealed, but it’s still interesting to see what Venom was and what he became in a solo picture. The difference is huge and noticeable from the first frames.
4. Hulk (2003)
In film “HulkThe 2003 story follows the origins of Bruce Banner, who, after a laboratory accident involving gamma radiation, finds himself capable of transforming into a massive green-skinned monster whenever he is emotionally provoked.
He is pursued by the US military and comes into conflict with his biological father, who has his own dark secrets from his son.
Eric Bana and Jennifer Connelly, who played the main roles, became a real decoration of the tape. “Chemistry” between them looks natural and I want to believe in their feelings, which is a rather rare occurrence for the genre, since action always comes to the fore.
3. Upgrade (2018)
«Upgradebecame in 2018, if not a sensation, then a pleasant surprise. No one expected something supernatural from an Australian-American film with a budget of less than $ 5 million, but it turned out great.
The plot is as follows: in the future, an auto mechanic involved in the restoration of old cars becomes a victim of an attack. As a result, he is paralyzed and his wife dies.
A brilliant scientist and his client offer him an operation to implant an implant that will give him the opportunity to master his body again, and he agrees. He does not yet know that the implant has its own mind and its own plans for his body.
The dialogues between the main character and the AI are very similar to Venom’s conversations with his carrier, although they do not contain so many jokes.
2. Deadpool (2016)
The “adult” superhero film about a chatty mercenary in red tights literally turned the genre around, proving to everyone that the R rating has the right to life.
Together with the first part, this also includes “Deadpool 2”, since in general the films are about the same thing, and it’s hard to say which part turned out to be more successful.
1. Fantastic Four (2015)
Let’s finish the selection with the film “Fantastic Four”, which became a reboot of the popular franchise.
Commercially, this is a complete failure: with a budget of $ 120 million, the tape collected less than 170 million, and we will not judge its quality.
Someone liked the new four, but someone quite the opposite. If you haven’t seen it, check it out and make up your own mind.
