10 most famous poems and poems by Vladimir Mayakovsky

Vladimir Mayakovsky – poet, futurist. On the one hand, we see a protesting poet, on the other, a lyrical hero. There are contradictions in everything. He fights against God, but at the same time there is a religious feeling in his soul. In 1923, the poet’s “visiting card” appeared – a “ladder”, which helped him read poetry correctly.

His work flourished after the revolution. If for 5 years before 1917 he wrote one volume of poems and poems, then for 12 years after that year – 11 volumes.

His poems combined pathos with the most poisonous satire. But, nevertheless, Mayakovsky’s most famous poems entered the history of Soviet literature, he was one of the greatest poets of the XNUMXth century.

10 Could you?

It was written in 1913, and he came to literature in 1912. It shows how beautiful the world around us is. And it depends only on a person how to perceive what surrounds him: as gray and boring, or as a bright world.

The lyrical hero of the poemCould you?“- an incorrigible optimist, something made him very happy.

Unusual associations arise in his head, and he is proud that he can see the beautiful.

9. Letter to Tatyana Yakovleva

It was published in 1956, although Mayakovsky wrote it in 1928. He was inspired by the story of a Russian woman who emigrated to France.

The poet once visited Paris, and there he met Tatyana Yakovleva, who moved abroad in 1925. Mayakovsky liked her, moreover, he fell in love with her and offered to return to the USSR together, but she refused.

The poet was serious, he was ready to marry Tatyana, but she made him understand that she would only be with him in France, where Vladimir was supposed to move.

Reading the poemLetter to Tatyana Yakovleva“We understand that the poet is torn between two feelings: love for the Motherland and for a woman.

Already from the first lines he shows that patriotism for him is not an empty phrase. At the same time, he does not hide his attitude towards Russia, does not embellish or hide anything, describing it.

He knows that the woman he loves will refuse him, she is not ready to exchange France for her homeland, but, nevertheless, promises to win her love.

8. Flute spine (poem)

The poem was written in 1915. Mayakovsky began to write it in the fall of this year and finished by November. Initially, he dedicated it to Lila Brik, it was called “Poems to her.”

When the poem was published for the first time, some of its parts were withdrawn by the tsarist censorship, and later it was also printed in a shortened form.

This work was completely printed only in 1919, and then it was called “flute spine».

This is one of the most autobiographical poems in the poet’s work. In the image of a lyrical hero, Mayakovsky himself, besides him, it tells about Lila Brik and her husband Osip.

The author shows himself as a sufferer-Christ. But, nevertheless, Mayakovsky sings of his love, although he understands that it is hopeless. For her sake, he is ready for the possible and the impossible, he would like to give her the crown.

The lyrical hero loves, but he is rejected, his soul suffers and has reached deep despair, love brings only suffering and has become a kind of curse. He asks God to stop this unbearable suffering.

7. Passport

Vladimir Vladimirovich was proud to be a citizen of the USSR. In the 20s, Soviet Russia was feared, hated, there was an iron curtain between the West and the USSR.

Only a few were released abroad, and among them was a young poet. He could compare life in Russia and in European countries, and, based on his feelings, write.

In the poem “Passport“We see how the lyrical hero goes through customs and watches how attitudes towards people change depending on the country. If this is an Englishman, there is a sense of servility, a solid tip is expected from an American, while a USSR passport is perceived as a snake or a bomb.

Mayakovsky, as it were, laughs at the Western world, shouting that he is above the rotten and old.

6. What is good and what is bad

Mayakovsky wrote not only complex works, but also simple children’s poems that are still relevant today.

In 1925 his poem “What is good and what is bad“. Writing poetry for kids is not as easy as it might seem, but the poet believed that his direct duty was to educate a new generation.

Children have a very simple world: everything in it is either good or bad. The father needs to answer the child’s question, and this answer is very important, because. it forms the concept of good and evil, of justice.

He starts with the simplest – the sun in the sky is good, but the wind and rain are bad. And then lists the situations understandable to children. In the end, the child becomes clear that you need to do only good.

5. Here!

The poem was written in 1913. The young and daring poet decided to denounce the people of his age. He writes that society is disintegrating, the level of culture is dropping sharply.

The surrounding reality oppressed the poet. There was the First World War, people lived in difficult conditions, suffered. But there were also those who made money on it.

Young Mayakovsky, with his characteristic strength, confronts this crowd, expresses his contempt in the poem “Here!“. He considers himself free, not limited by any framework.

He understands that his poems cannot be appreciated, moreover, people can be dangerous if they come together.

4. Listen to this!

Most of the poet’s poems are sharp, rebellious. But there are also gentle, lyrical and sensitive. One of them – “Listen to this!“, it appeared in 1914.

In it he talks about the stars. There are 2 interpretations of this verse. Some researchers suggest that the stars are poetic creativity, others are human life. In it, the poet turns to God, bringing him closer to the common man.

This is a kind of monologue of a lyrical hero, in the first part of which we hear rhetorical questions, then we learn that he is grateful to God for lighting these stars to illuminate the path with them.

3. Lily!

The famous poem appeared in 1916 and was addressed to Lila Brik. A year has passed since they met, and Mayakovsky decided to pour out a stream of his strong innermost experiences onto a paper sheet.

The researchers wrote that this is the most authentic poem of all written by him.

«Lily!» from the first reading remains forever in the memory, because. it describes an extraordinary, unlike anything else, love of a man for a woman.

As one of the critics said, this is a song of triumphant love.

2. Out loud (poem)

This is the last poem of the poet, written in 1930. Then he was preparing for his anniversary exhibition dedicated to 20 years of his work. And he decided that it was time for him to turn to his descendants himself, and not to expect what critics would tell about him.

The poem “In a loud voice”appeared at a time when his activities were severely criticized. This is what prompted him to address his readers directly.

He wanted to create a grandiose work, but managed to make only an introduction. After that, he did not work on this last work of his, because. committed suicide in April of the same year. But the poem is still considered a finished work. In it, he decided to talk about himself and his time, and he did it very harshly.

For him, poetry is a part of life, work that should motivate people, it is a weapon, and the poet is its servant.

1. Cloud in pants (poem)

The poet wrote this work in 1914-1915. It was originally supposed to be calledthirteenth apostle».

While traveling around Russia with the futurists, he meets Maria Denisova. The girl refused to enter into a close relationship with Mayakovsky, which hurt him greatly, but also became a source of inspiration.

The first part is dedicated to the lyrical hero waiting for his beloved. The second part is poetry, which, in his opinion, should be the poetry of struggle. In the third part, he denies the cruel and inhuman political system.

In the fourth, the poet again writes about love, his hero is left with a bloodied heart.

«A cloud in pants“- a rebellious work, Mayakovsky himself said that these are 4 shouts, he has a simple slogan – “Down with!”.
