10 Makeup Mistakes That Make You Old

With age, make-up should be treated more carefully so as not to add extra years to yourself.

Makeup is an excellent tool that, in the hands of a skilled user, will help in achieving the desired results: it will mask imperfections, transform flaws into advantages and even rejuvenate your appearance. However, mistakes in applying cosmetics often lead to unpleasant consequences, adding to women a dozen (and sometimes two!) Years. Visagiste Anna Nikitina talked about the most common makeup mistakes and how to avoid them. We read and study (while we are in quarantine).

When we even out the complexion with foundation, powder and other concealers, we erase not only skin imperfections from the face, but also our natural shadows and volumes, leaving the face flat and dull. The face becomes like a lifeless mask with a dense canvas of tone and powder. Like a dummy! And with the help of a sculptor, blush and highlighter, we can recreate natural shadows, radiance and freshness, visually lift the contour.

Tip: Apply very little and blend well. Let the sculptor be barely noticeable, the blush should not look like a trace of lipstick, and the shine of the highlighter was not visible even from space. Everything in bits. With the latter, by the way, you need to be more careful with the owners of problem skin and skin with pronounced signs of age. The highlighter will only draw attention to the problem.

With age, it is better to give up dense powders and leave the habit of constantly powdering. A thick layer of powder makes the face heavier and also gathers in and outlines wrinkles.

Tip: if you want to get rid of oily sheen, use a light transparent powder, matting sprays or wipes throughout the day.

Too thin eyebrows have been not only out of fashion for several years, but also add age. Therefore, if you want to look younger, avoid clear traced shapes, especially at the base. Use softer tones, even if your hair color is black.

Tip: Use a graphite or black-brown eyebrow shade. But not black! When choosing eyebrow products, always consider the color at the roots of your hair. Remember, this is your ideal tone.

The drawn lower mucous membrane of the eye (kayal) is too graphic, and the shadows make the look heavier and narrower, add age, focus on bags, bruises and wrinkles. The lines in your makeup should be smooth and aim upward.

Tip: It is better to replace the black pencil with a light brown one, and if you choose a beige one, the look will become fresh and more open.

Too dark lipstick will age the owners of thin lips, as well as make them visually even narrower. Moreover, the product will draw attention to wrinkles and drooping corners of the lips. On an older face, due to the relief contour and the created shadows on the face, grayish pigment prevails, while dark lipstick can not only emphasize it, but also enhance it.

Tip: choose subtle shades and you can’t go wrong. And bright coral or fuchsia will refresh any look.

Too thick layer of mascara looks not only unnatural and makes the look heavier, but also adds age. This will definitely not make your eyelashes thick, but only emphasize this. Densely colored lower lashes can also enhance the shadow under the eyes and highlight even subtle blue, so it is advisable to limit yourself to a thinner layer of the product. Or use brown or gray mascara.

Tip: don’t be afraid to use colored mascara! Very little. Or just on the ends over black. Many will not even guess that something has changed in you, but the image will change!

Pearlescent eyeshadow and lipstick

The relief of the eyelids and lips will be emphasized, which means the wrinkles in these places. You can use gloss on your lips, but without pearlescent particles and sparkles.

Tip: give preference to matte and satin shadows.

A foundation darker than your skin tone will look ridiculous. Such a remedy is always noticeable on the face, especially in daylight, as well as too light. All of these can give you age. When choosing a foundation in a store, apply it not to your hand (the skin is noticeably different here), but to your face, neck or collarbone. The ideal product will completely blend in with your skin tone, and you will not see the place where it was applied.

Council: If the tone is still darker, then add a couple of drops of illuminator or day cream to it. The color will be softer, and the face will receive additional hydration and a healthy glow.

Several accents in makeup

It can be, if you use the right products wisely. The fact is that on an adult face, even one mistake is unforgivable, and the misuse of a large number of products (also bright ones) will look simply vulgar.

Tip: don’t try to emphasize everything! And be careful with shades.

Gloss over bright lipstick

Be wary of this season’s hot glossy lips, like the recent Badgley Mischka and Lanvin runways. Gloss in combination with any lipstick will make it even brighter, which will draw attention to wrinkles. In addition, shine will reduce the durability of the lipstick, and in less than an hour, most likely, your lipstick will begin to “run away” behind the contour.

Tip: nothing prevents you from using just a bright lip gloss.
