10 laundry mistakes we still make

As a result, we spoil both the clothes and the typewriter.

Hail to the one who came up with the washing machine, sewer, plumbing and electricity. Thanks to them, our life really became like a fairy tale that our mothers never dreamed of. And there is no longer any wisdom left in the household chores: press buttons for yourself, the technique will do the rest by itself. But here, too, we are still mistaken in something.

Do not button up jeans

And any other clothes with zippers. Their teeth can snag things made of delicate fabric, such as a knitted dress or shirt, and leave puffs on them. Therefore, the zippers must be fastened to the very top.

We wash socks “in bulk”

And then we wonder why after washing only one of the pair remains. Sometimes it seems as if the machine takes a tribute for washing with socks. But you can forget about looking for a pair of socks forever if you put them in a special mesh bag before washing. The main thing is to make sure that it is not packed too tightly.

Pouring in too much powder

The more, the cleaner, this is the logic. It has two drawbacks: firstly, it is expensive. Powder is not cheap these days. Second, it doesn’t work. Washing will not become more effective just because instead of one scoop of powder, we banged two. On the contrary, excess foam will only prevent you from properly washing your collars and cuffs. And this is not useful for the machine – the foam can settle in the “insides” of the equipment, gradually disabling it.

Overusing bleach

Honestly, it is better not to add it at all during washing, but to soak stained things in a solution with bleach beforehand. If the funds are too much, there is a risk that it will not be completely rinsed out of the fabric, and this is already fraught with allergies and skin irritation. In addition, aggressive use of bleach will shorten the life of the fabric.

Wipe off the stains

Rubbing the stain violently in the hope of removing it is also a mistake. If you rub a fresh stain with all your might, chances are that it will only creep. Instead, gently blot the stain with a cloth, apply the stain remover, let it take effect, then gently blot the mint again. And then send the thing to the wash.

Don’t unbutton your shirts

Zippers – fasten, shirts – unfasten. This rule cannot be neglected because when washing shirts and blouses buttoned, the buttonholes stretch strongly, deforming the thing.

Loading the washing machine incorrectly

Everything is simple here. Putting in too little linen makes the equipment run dry. If you put in too much, the laundry won’t wash off, and the machine will jump on the floor like a crazy rabbit. Place so much laundry that there is 10-15 cm between it and the top of the drum.

Putting the powder in the wrong tray

It would be logical to assume that powder or other detergent needs to be poured or poured into a tray labeled with the number 1. But no. In fact, it only needs to be filled if using prewash or soak. Detailed instructions on how to determine where to put the powder can be found HERE.

Ignore clothing tags

If there is an icon on the tag that the item cannot be washed, dry cleaning is needed, then it must be taken to dry cleaning. Or leave it in the store. Washing such a thing with a high degree of probability will ruin it. By the way, we have a guide to the labels, it is HERE.

Sort by color only

Dark and light, white and color – we separate these automatically. But it turns out that you also need to sort by the structure of the fabric. To achieve maximum cleanliness, at the same time you need to wash clothes from fabrics that are similar in texture; do not mix jeans with shirts.
