10 keys to a healthy and happy life

A healthy lifestyle is more than just exercise and proper nutrition. How to stay young, active and successful longer, says Alfredo Bataller, CEO of the SHA Wellness Clinic.

“At SHA Wellness Clinic, we don’t just help people cleanse their bodies and lose weight, cope with stress and insomnia, quit smoking and relax, we help them lead a different lifestyle — a healthier and more conscious one,” explains Alfredo. “The habits we have acquired are easy to follow in everyday life.”

1. Meditation

A healthy lifestyle starts with how you perceive your life. Meditation is a tool for managing feelings and thoughts, it teaches you to concentrate and take time for yourself. Before you change the world around you, you need to establish contact with yourself.

2. Physical activity

Choose the type of physical activity that suits your lifestyle. Yoga, tai chi, qigong and Pilates will help you relax, relieve stress and find balance. Exercise equipment, boxing and aerobics will invigorate and tone you. You can start with morning or evening walks. This is an easy way to give the body a little exercise and relax at the same time.

3. Food

Food affects us more than we think. Studies conducted back in the 1980s in the United States proved that certain foods (primarily meat) make us more violent, quick-tempered and unbalanced. Therefore, I advise you to eat red meat no more than 1-2 times a month.

The SHA menu is based on the diet of Japanese monks. In Japan, the average life expectancy is 82 years. This is one of the best indicators in the world. And in the monasteries it is even more impressive – 92 years. Japanese physician Michio Kushi studied the diet of Japanese monks and developed the macrobiotic diet that we use at SHA along with the Mediterranean diet. It involves cutting out meat, dairy, and sugar.

The menu is based on cereals and vegetables, which are recommended to be eaten every day. White fish and seafood are allowed 1-2 times a week. But for each guest, we develop our own personalized menu, because everyone needs different food.

Of course, changing eating habits is not easy. Let’s say you put two sugar cubes in your coffee. Try reducing the amount to one, then to half, and maybe one day you will be able to drink coffee without sugar, enjoying its taste and aroma. The main thing is the desire to change.

4. Acupuncture

Acupuncture has many advantages, its effectiveness has been tested by thousands of years of experience. It helps to prevent the development of diseases, strengthen the immune system, lose weight, overcome stress and quit smoking. And for those who are afraid of needles, there is laser acupuncture, when certain points are affected by a laser.

5. Development of cognitive abilities

We are becoming more and more multitasking, but at the same time our attention is increasingly scattered. As a result, we lose the ability to focus and enjoy simple things.

Digital detox is not giving up the phone and the Internet, but the ability to use them competently

For SHA clients, we offer a concentration test. A man is watching a short film in 3D. A special program notes when his attention is scattered. At this point, the film stops. Browsing continues when the person concentrates again. This allows you to identify internal problems and prevent the development of serious diseases. There are sets of exercises that train attention, memory and mental abilities, as well as supporting brain activity.

6. Time management

A clear schedule allows you to find time for both training and cooking healthy food. No need to try to do many things at the same time. A digital detox is not a rejection of the phone and the Internet, but the ability to use them competently. You don’t have to be on call 24/7. Set aside time that you dedicate to clearing email and making business calls. Then you can improve your efficiency.

7. Communication

Modern technologies allow you to communicate without leaving your home. We have many friends on social networks, but we often do not know who lives in the next apartment. The ability to establish contact and maintain communication are important social skills that are easy to lose in a big city.

Most of the guests come to us alone to relax and be alone with themselves. But for those who are open to communication, we offer the Sharing Tables system. Guests who choose this option, during breakfast, lunch and dinner, get to know and communicate, make new friends from different countries.

We have SHA Private Residences – villas with a private pool and garden where you can relax with the whole family. While the parents are on the procedure, the children can attend cooking classes, swim, walk, play, etc. After all, the opportunity at the end of the day to discuss all the events and share the rest with relatives is difficult to overestimate.

8. Generosity

Help those in need, participate in charity projects. Give things, take care of loved ones, smile more often. Most importantly, be sincere.

9. Healthy sleep

Sleep is the best anti-aging procedure, because the body’s resources are restored at night. Try to determine the cause of sleep disorders: emotional overstrain, stress, health problems. Having established a night’s rest, you will feel changes in other areas of life.

10. Purpose in life

Don’t try to be someone else, be the best version of yourself. Set goals and priorities – they fill every day with meaning and help you work.
