It’s always a pity to part with your favorite things. And it is not always necessary!
A T-shirt is the most practical wardrobe item. It is worn both in a feast and in the world, women and men, children and old people. And also T-shirts have a fantastic property – gradually accumulate in the bowels of the closet, turning it into its own colony. How many T-shirts do you have that have seen better days but still seem to work well for home use? We will tell you how to give new life to obsolete gizmos and at the same time free up space on the shelves.
Hair dressing
Hair grows into the eyes and falls at the most inopportune moment – when we apply a mask to our face or do exercises. So, let’s get them in check. Take a thick shirt and cut off the top of it. Make a figure eight horizontally, then again and fold the new bandage in half.
Pillowcases
Are you sorry to throw away your shirt with a nice print? It can make a good “outfit” for a sofa cushion. Tailor the shirt to fit your pillow. Turn the workpiece inside out and sew three sides. On the fourth, make a bend for a couple of centimeters, sew along the edge and sew a few hooks.
Skirt for the youngest
Do you have a daughter or a younger sister? A taste for fashion must be instilled from an early age! Cut the top off the shirt. Turn the future skirt inside out. Fold about five centimeters in the place of the cut and sew the fold. Just do not forget to leave a hole in which we will then stretch a wide elastic band. Spread the fabric over the elastic and iron the garment.
Clothes for dolls
Old T-shirts are also suitable for sewing doll clothes. Your child can try his hand at being a fashion designer and update the wardrobe of his favorite doll, and you will not spend extra money.
A bag
You can make an excellent shopping bag or shopping bag from an old T-shirt. Choose the thickest and tightest T-shirt, because the stronger the material, the longer your bag will last. Cut off the sleeves and neckline from the T-shirt. Sew the bottom firmly – the string bag is ready! Nature and wallet will thank you!
Hand paint
You can give a second life to a boring T-shirt with the help of fabric paints and your imagination. You can imagine yourself as an artist and draw anything, or you can limit yourself to chaotic blots and stripes, a heart or a funny emoticon. And if you managed to get hold of paint in a spray can – try to make a drawing in the style of a gradient. It looks especially good on vests.
Toys for children and animals
It’s as easy as shelling pears to make a toy for a child or pet out of an unnecessary T-shirt. Find the pattern you like on the Internet, print it on paper and cut the toy out of it. Sew around the perimeter, leaving a small incision to turn the toy inside out and fill it with padding polyester, then sew it up and add small details. Or draw.
Scarf and other accessories
Throwing away T-shirts made of soft, colorful material is a sin. Cut off the top, twist the figure eight and your new scarf is ready! And if you cut the clothes into long strips and stock up on accessories from the nearest sewing store, you can weave a necklace, bracelet, and even earrings.
Patchwork quilt or rug
If you have a lot of T-shirts, you can cut them into different sized pieces and sew a patchwork quilt. Do you want a rug more? Cut the shirts into strips of fabric at least two centimeters wide. Remember the basics of crocheting in home economics lessons and more. Too lazy to mess around? Braid long braids and wash them in a circle on an old heavy-duty towel.
Charity
If you are tired of T-shirts, don’t rush to throw them away. Better give it to the people who need it the most. You can donate the T-shirts to charity, give them to a friend who is fond of handicrafts, or donate them for recycling – nature will thank you.
