Sputum can be a symptom of various diseases from bronchitis and SARS to a banal allergy to the composition of the air, but there are universal ways to deal with it:
10 Drink more water
Water helps to remove harmful substances from the body, moisturizes the throat and helps to exfoliate mucus from the throat cavity. You need to drink warm water, a comfortable temperature is selected individually. Too cold or hot water has an irritating effect on the mucous membrane and can cause deterioration. It is also better to use more liquid with a good alkaline composition, for example, Borjomi or Essentuki mineral water.
9. Honey with lemon
Dissolved in warm water, honey and lemon will not leave a single chance for pathogenic bacteria: honey has anti-inflammatory and thinning properties, in addition, it is a natural antiseptic; lemon also has an antiseptic effect and, paired with honey, is a powerful immune stimulant.

Pumpkin juice has a tonic and anti-inflammatory effect on the body as a whole. Pumpkin juice syrup is even used to treat bronchitis.
7. Do inhalations
You can just breathe in steam – this helps to thin the mucus and warm the bronchi. The most effective will be inhalation with a nebulizer. The latter method will help to influence the focus of pathogenic bacteria and stimulate the muscles to push the mucus to the surface. In this case, special medications are used, but alkaline mineral water can be dispensed with. It is important to remember that the steam temperature should not exceed 70 degrees, otherwise this method will not only not help, but also harm.

Another powerful antiseptic is a well-known seasoning. For a general effect, add it to food, for a local effect, add it to the rinse solution. To prepare the solution you will need: a teaspoon of turmeric, half a teaspoon of salt and 200 ml. warm boiled water. Mix the ingredients and let it brew a little. Rinse 2-3 times a day.
3. Quit smoking
Smoking exacerbates the negative effects of phlegm. Since sputum makes it difficult for air to move through the respiratory tract, there are more harmful combustion products of tobacco in the lungs, they settle on the capillaries, killing them and weakening the protective function. As a result, pathogenic bacteria multiply faster, and inflammation is more difficult to remove, which leads to complications. Therefore, give up bad habits at least for the duration of the illness.
2. Take a hot shower
So you will warm the chest from the outside. After a shower, it will become easier for you to breathe, the main thing is to avoid drafts and immediately after the end of water procedures, dress warmly.

The nasal and throat cavities are very closely related, so nasal hygiene will have a positive effect. You can rinse your nose with a special spray or syringe without a needle. You can use special formulations or a solution of furacilin. You can also prepare a solution yourself from ordinary table salt.
