Have you ever wondered how much waste we accumulate every day and what the consequences are for our planet? But the amount of waste (and costs) can be reduced by choosing reusable items.
Saving money and helping the planet – if the latter is not so important for many, then the former will certainly interest almost everyone. As they say, the devil is in the details, and gigantic spending is made up of little things. Therefore, the first step towards saving is the rejection of spontaneous rash purchases and disposable items. We have compiled a whole list of things that can and should be reused. These things will change your life.
Cotton swabs
How many cotton pads do you use each day to remove your makeup? Chances are you didn’t even count. But there is no doubt that it makes more sense to use reusable washable discs to save money and reduce your environmental impact. They can be machine washed and reused as many times as needed. They are also very soft, skin-friendly, even suitable as a gift.
Smart notepad
Notes, Reminders, and Shopping Lists – If you are one of those who cannot do without a notebook, the smart notebook that never ends is the perfect alternative. Its pages will always be like new, you just have to wipe them with a special cloth, and if you need these records for the future, you can save them on your smartphone before deleting.
Food film
Wrap a sandwich, close a bowl with leftover food – cling film is always needed on the farm. But they have already invented a reusable film! It is made from beeswax and other natural ingredients, it softens with the warmth of your hands and allows you to store any food. Then it needs to be washed with soap and water – and can be used again.
String bag
Increasingly, initiatives to ban plastic bags are emerging: a lot of plastic is now being produced that does not decompose, accumulates, and it has become so much that even its particles are found in human blood. Therefore, it is important to minimize plastic consumption as much as possible. Where to begin? Naturally, from classic packages. They can be easily replaced with string bags or fabric bags. It’s practical, eco-friendly and trendy. And your life will definitely change beyond recognition.
Diapers and panty liners
If you are a young mom, you know very well how much money is spent on diapers. Scientists have even calculated that a child uses about 4 thousand diapers before getting used to the potty. So why not try reusable? This may seem tedious or impractical at first, but it actually offers many benefits. Soft and eco-friendly, washable diapers do not irritate baby’s skin and easily adapt to different ages. They absorb moisture just like disposable diapers, but are environmentally friendly and significantly reduce your costs.
The same is true for sanitary napkins: washable napkins use the absorbency of bamboo fiber, and the most innovative models are especially practical and comfortable. They can be easily washed in the washing machine and do not irritate the skin. And there is another alternative – menstrual cups.
Kitchen towels
Paper kitchen towels are very convenient to use, but unfortunately run out too quickly. You have to buy them over and over again. An eco-friendly alternative are reusable rolls made from bamboo fiber. They can be washed 80 to 100 times and are easy to clean kitchen surfaces.
Bottle for water
It’s high time to stop buying small water bottles and start carrying your own bottle – bright and beautiful. It is practical and durable, you can even warm up your favorite drink in it. Bottles are made from a wide variety of materials: steel and plastic, aluminum and silicone.
Baking paper
When we cook something in the oven, we often use non-stick paper. To avoid waste, there is an eco-friendly alternative: reusable washable baking paper. It is no different from the usual one, only it can be washed and used again, another, third.
Straws for drinks
If you can’t skip drinking straws, go for eco-friendly and reusable bamboo or steel. They do not contain dyes or toxic substances, and they look quite nice.
