During the week, in the Lodzkie Voivodship, legal highs killed as many as 10 young people. – This is an extremely worrying situation. According to us experts, this may be due to the introduction of an opioid called fentanyl into this product. Importantly, so many deaths in such a short time, which occurred in a small area, may indicate deliberate action – says Paweł Kukiz-Szczucińki, pediatrician and psychiatrist, candidate for the Ombudsman for Children.

MedTvoiLokony: Is the sudden increase in deaths due to legal highs in Poland not a coincidence?

Paweł Kukiz-Szczuciński, pediatrician and psychiatrist, medical advisor to the Kukiz’15 Movement, candidate for the position of the Ombudsman for Children:

«In the last week we recorded about 10 deaths of young people after using the so-called afterburners. This is an extremely worrying situation. According to us, experts, this may be due to the introduction of an opioid called fentanyl into the marketed product. It is an extremely potent drug used in minimal doses mainly by anesthesiologists during surgeries. When used in a transdermal form in children, it can lead to severe and fatal hyperventilation.

Importantly, so many deaths in such a short time, which occurred in a small area, may indicate deliberate action. As you know, chemicals are extremely dangerous weapons. During my mission in Kurdistan in 2016, I worked in a hospital located just a few dozen kilometers from ISIS-occupied Mosul. Terrorists used chemical weapons to drop them from helicopters. At first, we did not know how to deal with patients who came to us in series presenting very mysterious symptoms of agitation.

Returning to fentanyl, it was used by the special services, which, as we know, used for their activities, among others preparation “Nowiczok”, and also used radioactive materials. Dr. Marcin Rawicz, an anesthesiologist, recently pointed out that fentanyl was also used by a specialist in the service. To my knowledge, foreign services may be interested in destabilizing the country in various sections. That is why it is advisable that all services and agencies that care about the security of citizens, especially children, join their efforts in the face of this threat. There should be a special group with policemen, prosecutors, doctors, biochemists, addiction specialists as well as teachers and journalists, which will seriously deal with the fight against legal highs. Not only prosecution, but above all education and information campaigns are key.

Is this number of deaths related to the fact that dealers clean warehouses of designer drugs after the amendment of the law? This is one of the possible leads ».

PS

It is likely that an overdose of fentanyl led to the death of Prince
