It just so happened that high-quality videos with meaning are shot mainly by rock performers, trying to tell a story in them.
They rarely have banality, like rappers (half-naked girls, money, cars and other show-offs), and some of the works are shot at the level of good short films.
10 Rammstein — Rosenrot
For the Germans, every clip is worthy of attention, but this one has the most interesting plot. The story tells of a group of monks who come to a small settlement, where they are warmly welcomed by the locals, who give them shelter and a seat at the table.
A wedding is being prepared in the village, but despite this, the bride is actively making eyes at one of the monks. As a result, the couple marries, and the girl gets her way and seduces the clergyman, persuading him to kill her husband, whom she does not love.
Blinded by love and jealousy, the monk (played by Till Lindemann) kills his rival, but the freshly baked widow decides to deceive him too. She calls the neighbors and hangs all the dogs on him, for which he is burned alive at the stake.
9. Five Finger Death Punch — Wrong side of heaven
The musicians of the Five Finger Death Punch group are famous patriots and they have several songs and videos on the military theme, but Wrong side of heaven is definitely the best.
The clip is dedicated to the life of veterans who, after the army, are not needed by the country and society, especially if they returned disabled or have mental disorders.
The statistics of ex-soldiers who have become homeless, the excellent footage of the military operation and the poignant demonstration of the pain of the military – all this can bring a tear to anyone.
8. Limp Bizkit — Boiler
The surreal bad trip from Limp Bizkit is difficult to describe in words, as everyone will understand what is shown in it in their own way. Strangely, this video work is not as popular as the other clips of the group, although it was filmed much better.
Android robots, explosions, the sudden transformation of the video sequence into animation – it looks amazing, especially for the beginning of the XNUMXs when it was filmed.
7. Dimmu Borgir — The Serpentine Offering
The clip tells about the times of the Crusades, when the monks literally forced Christianity on the pagans.
One of the crusaders, a young monk, seeing the horrors that his brothers are doing (the burning of imaginary witches at the stake), tears off the cross and renounces the faith.
With the help of an ancient pagan rite, he gains tremendous power and summons the horsemen of the Apocalypse, who easily deal with cruel Christians.
The video sequence leaves open the question of which is worse: objectionable faith or otherworldly demons?
6. KORN — Thoughtless
At first, the plot may seem painfully banal, but the main thing is to watch it to the end.
A young guy in high school has no friends and constantly suffers humiliation from his peers, hating himself and the whole world.
Gradually, the anger accumulated in him becomes so strong that demons wake up inside, and not in a figurative, but in the most direct sense.
The denouement takes place at the graduation party, where yesterday’s outcast comes in the company of a charming demoness and spoils the holiday for everyone.
The plot is worthy of youth horror, especially the main role is played by Aaron Paul – the same Jesse Pinkman from Breaking Bad.
5. Biopsychosis — Ashes
Two soldiers, dressed in the uniform of Nazi Germany, lead a guy and a girl to be shot. The guy is killed first and the guns are reloaded to execute the girl, but she suddenly starts dancing.
Stretching her hands to the sky, she moves bewitchingly, as if performing a ritual, and even the executioners lower their weapons, fascinated by the spectacle. And then … What happens then is better to see for yourself.
Of particular note is the message at the end of the video and urging not to listen to politicians calling for war. It is doubly pleasant that such a high-quality video and song belong to a Russian team.
4. Metallica — Frantic
A young man rushes at high speed in his car and, ignoring the red light, gets into an accident.
The car takes off into the air and begins to roll over, and the driver flashes his whole life before his eyes. Suddenly he clearly understands that he wasted it in vain: alcohol, cigarettes, food, sleep, casual one-night stands, drinking in the company of equally stupid friends – that’s all he can remember.
The clip makes you think that the clock is ticking, and the lives of many people are meaningless.
3. Disturbed — The Light
A poignant story of a firefighter who, during the next call, falls under the collapse of a building. He is rescued by his partners and pulled out of the fire, but now he has to re-learn how to walk and hide his burnt face under a hood.
He loses his job, people on the street get scared when they see him, and he becomes more and more dependent on antidepressants.
Fortunately, there is a girl next to him who loves him for who he is, ignoring the scars and mental anguish. Love can heal what medicine can’t.
2. Pain — Shut Your Mouth
This song is considered the main hit of the group, and the video for it was a real sensation at the time of release.
A man wakes up in his bed to the sound of an annoying alarm clock and goes to the kitchen for milk, when suddenly the house is illuminated by a strange light from outside, and a guest from another planet appears on the threshold.
Next, we are shown how a man tries to tell the government about the humanoid, but they advise him to shut his mouth and not talk nonsense, refusing to believe.
Well, the ending is generally “cute”: the alien stays to live in the house and becomes a friend of the earthling.

Let’s finish with a clip showing us the dependence of modern man on gadgets. The footage is fully drawn, but the cartoonishness only makes it better.
The protagonist does not understand why the people around him are so blind and insensitive: when they see a fire, they take selfies against the background, shoot a video, and when some marginal molests a girl, they stick their eyes on the screen of the gadget and pretend not to notice.
If you look closely, then someone may well recognize himself, immersed in the virtual world at the moment when something important happens in the real one.
