10 Brazil: the airplane city

The capital of Brazil has an interesting layout – having risen by plane, you can see that the area, which includes the highways of the city and quarters, form a plane flying to the southeast.

Years later, already an adult, he flew over El Salvador, and was very moved by the words of his father, who told him that he had found his helmet.

Chandigarh is an Indian town, during its construction, the architects wanted to emphasize that the city is the banner of an independent and new India.

Brutalism (raw concrete technique) was used for all buildings. The rectangles, as well as the arches included in the layout, were not a random choice – such a decision is very pragmatic, because a free-roaming breeze can make a hot climate milder.

In addition, complex cone-shaped structures were used.

7. Canberra: birds, wheels

Canberra is the capital of Australia, the city is located in the center of the continent, was founded in 1913. It is surrounded by magnificent nature and picturesque amazing landscapes.

The city became famous thanks to its fortress, which was made in the form of a 9-pointed star. They wanted to make the city a real military machine – it was protected from all sides, and it contained all the necessary weapons.

Jaipur is an Indian city founded in 1727. It is called “pink” because pink stone was used in the construction. What is interesting – the outer wall was built by Jai Singh II – Maharaja, Dhundhara and the founder of Jaipur.

In addition, at that time, only this city had a rectangular layout. The whole city is divided into 9 rectangular sectors – this protected Jaipur from enemy troops, as well as wild animals.

4. La Plata: Diagonal City

The Argentine port town, when viewed from above, consists entirely of diagonal lines. In 1880, after Buenos Aires was granted the status of a Federal District, the administrative center was moved to a city built specifically for this purpose.

The town is made in the form of a grid – you can see the lines. This idea belonged to the architect of Argentina, Pedro Benoit, he wanted to use the allotted territory as rationally as possible.

La Plata can be called the most rationally built-up city. Avenues and streets do not have names, they are all simply numbered.

The town was built according to Feng Shui – the streets flow very smoothly into one another, there are no sharp turns and right angles. Skyscrapers also have a rounded shape on top.
