Manufacturers of cosmetics every year more and more save on cost, which is why they begin to include more and more cheap chemical components. Less and less often, we note emollient oils and antiseptic organic acids, aromatic esters and regenerating antioxidants in the composition. They are replaced by silicones, parabens, fragrances and other chemicals that provoke irritation and allergies, and besides, they often turn out to be useless.
The mucous membrane of the lips has a delicate and sensitive surface, so not every industrial scrub can really be used for exfoliation. We invite you to take matters into your own hands and prepare your own caring and soft peels based on natural products: sugar, honey, coffee, fruit acids and nourishing oils.
Here are 10 tried-and-true lip scrub recipes that will gently exfoliate your sensitive area for a smooth, soft finish in just a few minutes.
10 Cinnamon Honey Scrub
To prepare a soft spicy remedy, you will need a teaspoon of the base: liquid or melted honey (you can use low quality), sugar (you can take beetroot classic or cane, fructose). In the prepared “molasses” it is necessary to add turmeric and cinnamon on the tip of a knife, mix thoroughly. Spread a gentle scrub on the lips, gently rubbing and massaging for 10 minutes. Rinse with water and apply any nourishing or moisturizing cream. Caution: spices can cause a tingling and tingling sensation, as well as provoke allergies. In case of unpleasant painful sensations, wash off the scrub ahead of time.
9. Gentle oatmeal scrub
To prepare a delicate cleanser, which is necessary for flaky, irritable and sensitive mucous membranes, it is better to use mucous cereals, and oatmeal is ideal in this regard. We will need 1 tablespoon of porridge (preferably a special baby cereal, not coarse cereal), the same amount of milk and a couple of drops of essential oil (for example, tea or ordinary rose). Grind the flakes in a coffee grinder or take ready-made dry porridge, mix with butter and milk, and then gently scrub the lip area for 10 seconds. Hold the product for another 3-5 minutes, then rinse. Oatmeal peeling is perfect for dry and chapped skin after frost.
8. Sicilian scrub
The outlandishly named remedy is indispensable for those who are allergic to bee products, gluten, milk and other food ingredients. Using these components, you can get itching and peeling of the epithelium, urticaria, and sometimes allergic rhinitis and massive swelling of the face. The Sicilian scrub consists mainly of basic caring and emollient oils, and “extra” salt acts as an abrasive component. Just mix a teaspoon each of salt, base oil (sesame, olive or linseed), caring oil (shea, coconut or peach), and then add a couple of drops of bergamot ether (if not allergic). Apply to lips and massage gently for 20 seconds before rinsing off.
7. Honey mint scrub for lip volume
If you want to have juicy lush lips with the effect of “kissed” – then a spicy honey-mint scrub is perfect for you. Shortly before going out or applying decorative cosmetics, prepare the following remedy: mix a teaspoon each of sugar and honey, diluted with two drops of mint ether. Mix the scrub and rub the sponges, hold for a few minutes (let it “pinch” the surface well). Then rinse and apply makeup. Here you have a natural “filler” ready – and you do not need to resort to injections.
6. Apple scrub for delicate skin
A scrub based on organic acids and antioxidants will protect damaged and weakened lip mucosa. Such a juicy peeling is recommended for summer and autumn, when there is a good harvest of natural apples. Just mash the apple with a blender, then take a teaspoon of the mass, combining it with the same amount of sugar and honey. To strengthen local immunity and improve blood flow, add citrus or lemongrass essential oil to the scrub. Exfoliate the skin of the lips for 15 seconds, no more (acids can begin to corrode the surface), rinse. After the procedure, be sure to moisturize or soften the skin with a protective balm with UV filters.
5. Coffee and honey scrub with cocoa
Delicate and fragrant peeling before a date, which will leave a coffee aftertaste after a kiss. For lip skin care, take a teaspoon of ground cocoa and coffee, as well as liquid honey. Mix everything until smooth, and if desired, you can enhance with emollient oil of coconut, shea, macadamia, etc. Gently scrub the skin for 20 seconds, then rinse. Finally, you can apply the caring oil of the same coconut, which will soften the skin and reduce the stress of the cleansing procedure.
4. Orange scrub on semolina
A fresh, invigorating recipe for summer mood. But in the heat, lip care is also important, especially when there is a harmful effect of dry winds and salty sea water. In order to moisturize and heal cracked skin, take a tablespoon of semolina and combine with oils: 3 drops of citrus ether, 2 drops of calendula, cinnamon and base oils (coconut, shea, etc.). Pre-soften semolina in a tablespoon of orange juice. Apply the mass on the lips, massage a little, and then leave for a few minutes. The tingling effect of spices and citrus will tell you that you are on the right track – at this moment the blood rushes intensely to the area.
3. Coffee Almond Scrub
Another version of a fragrant coffee scrub, but this time instead of honey, ground coffee (1 teaspoon) will be combined with basic almond oil (1 tsp). Mix the product quickly, not allowing the coffee to dissolve, and thoroughly scrub the surface of the lips for 20-30 seconds. To soften and moisturize the epithelium, you can hold the scrub for a couple more minutes, then rinse. The oil creates a protective film on the lips, so you can additionally apply a hydro-gel to soften the surface.
2. Honey Pepper Scrub
Sensitive and seductive lips with a smooth surface are not inventions of glossy magazines. An effective scrub can be prepared at home from absolutely “earthly” products that can be found in the buffet and first aid kit. Take a teaspoon of sugar and liquid honey, add a pinch of cayenne or red pepper, add 5 drops of base oil (shea, grape, peach) and 1 drop of an oily solution of vitamin E. Such a “shock” composition will warm up the skin of the lips, cleanse the stratum corneum and provide good blood flow. Massage the epithelium with a scrub for no more than 15 seconds, hold for a minute until the tingling effect and rinse.
1. Tropic banana scrub
Such a delicious and original peeling is obtained, so hold on so as not to lick it off your lips! Take a teaspoon of mashed banana and any abrasive (sugar, salt), combine with 2 drops of citrus ether and 5 drops of base oil (shea, coconut). Add also 0,5 tsp. lemon juice and stir. Apply the aromatic mass on the cleansed surface of the lips, massage for a couple of minutes and rinse with water. To soften a smooth and delicate surface, use a hygienic balm or base oil.
The elastic and even surface of the lips is an ideal base for decorative cosmetics. If you regularly peel the area, then cracks, dryness and peeling will not threaten you.
