We will talk about 10 films with an unusual and mysterious plot. And they are so, because the main characters of the films are dead.
10 City of Angels (1998)
The film is about angels who do not live in heaven, as we used to think, but among people. They walk next to the living being invisible, escorting us to work, meeting us from the cinema in the evening. They hear the thoughts of a person, ease the torment of choice and show the right path through life.
They are almost alive, only they are not able to feel. Feel the warmth of your hands, the taste of fragrant green tea with lemon, shortness of breath after a five-kilometer run and heart palpitations from looking at your beloved woman. And for the sake of human emotions, some angels are ready to drop their wings and return to the sublunar world. And so did the main character of the film, guided by the beauty of a woman.
9. Jack Frost (1998)
A story built on the relationship between fathers and children. But not on age differences and rejection of the younger generation, but on the love of a father for his own child. On the eve of the boy expects a hockey match. The son asks his father to come and support, because it is important to him. The father agrees, makes a promise that he will get to the hockey game, but he himself goes to the concert.
After the concert, a strong snowstorm begins and the main character, returning home, gets into a car accident in which he dies. His ghost cannot leave this world, as he feels uneasy about the broken promise and wants to apologize to his son. But how to do it if you are a disembodied spirit?
A resourceful dad finds a way out: he inhabits the body of a snowman in order to talk with his son and earn the child’s forgiveness.
8. Ghost (2015)
Modern film of Russian production.
The protagonist of the picture is an aircraft designer named Yuri, who has been working on the creation of an aircraft for a long time and wants to demonstrate the unique abilities of his offspring at the upcoming air show and thereby win the tender.
But a couple of days before the long-awaited event, a man gets behind the wheel while intoxicated and dies in an accident, although at first he does not understand at all what happened to him. Yuri becomes invisible to people, a disembodied being, but the only one who sees a man is a teenager named Vanya.
Vanya has problems with self-esteem and communication in class, so Yuri offers to help the boy if the teenager helps him win the tender.
7. I stay (2007)
This film is also Russian-made and, like everything on the list, tells about life after death. This time, the plot is centered on a man named Viktor Tyrsa and his only daughter, Evgenia.
Victor is a respected doctor and a serious person, he believes in science and denies everything otherworldly, being a terrible skeptic. He does not accept anything supernatural until he falls into a coma and suddenly starts talking to people who have died long ago. Dr. Tyrsa is stuck between life and death, and the time spent in the afterlife has changed all of Victor’s views and ideas about life.
After a coma, he returned with a completely different personality: humane, wise and reasonable.
6. Single (2010)
A Japanese thriller about the death of two schoolchildren who were hit by a train. After death, teenagers appear in an apartment in the center of Tokyo, in which there are several more dead, but unfamiliar people. The windows and the door of the apartment are closed and it is impossible to open them, since the ghosts cannot touch them.
There is only one glossy ball in the room, which is represented by Gantz and announces to those who have appeared that their former lives are over, and what to do with the future ones is up to Gantz.
So the main characters get into a terrible and confusing game.
5. Source Code (2011)
The story is about a man named Colter Stevens who wakes up and realizes that he is in the body of another man. He’s on the train, he doesn’t understand what’s going on. He meets a fellow traveler who says her name before the train explodes.
Colter wakes up again, but this time he is in his body and is in a capsule. The military explains that Colter is being used for an experiment called “Source Code”, which involves transmigrating into the mind of another person in the last eight minutes of his life in order to prevent terrorist operations.
4. Jamie Marks is dead (2014)
The film is an American production and tells about a dead boy named Jamie Marks. His body is discovered in the forest, and a fifteen-year-old teenager named Adam, who during his lifetime had almost no contact with Jamie, suddenly becomes fascinated by him.
Jamie’s ghost begins to appear to Adam and the girl who discovered Marx’s body in the forest. Then Adam realizes that he is between two worlds.
3. Coco’s Secret (2017)
Cartoon produced by Pixar and Disney. The cartoon is so touching that it is impossible to hold back the tears. He talks about a boy named Miguel with a big dream – to become a famous musician, like his idol and great-grandfather – Ernesto de la Cruz. On the Day of the Dead – a famous Mexican holiday – the boy enters the afterlife, from which he can return only if he receives a blessing from a relative. Then he decides to find Ernesto. Along the way, many adventures await him and the disclosure of a terrible secret. And also the realization that there is no one dearer and closer to the family.
2. Vanilla sky (2001)
The film is about a hero named David who has the dream life of many people. He has a beautiful appearance, a girlfriend, an expensive car, a beautiful apartment, a good job, close friends and, it would seem, what else is needed for happiness? Everything collapses in an instant when David gets into an accident and after it remains an invalid with a disfigured face.
David’s new life is an ongoing nightmare from which the man sees no way to wake up.
1. Limb (2013)
The main character of the film – Lisa – lives in groundhog day, living a huge number of times the day that stands before her sixteenth birthday. Every day is similar to the previous one and nothing changes in them. But one day Lisa begins to notice minor changes that, in principle, cannot appear in the groundhog day.
Then Lisa learns the terrible truth that she and her family died back in 1985 and are stuck in a house in which a new family of living people has now settled.
