10 beliefs that hinder your financial freedom

Dreaming of material well-being, do we understand what prevents us from achieving what we want? Albert Einstein believed that our beliefs and beliefs are often a trap that limits our possibilities. Let’s try to understand this issue and find a way out of the situation.

Beliefs help you make quick decisions, feel more comfortable and confident. They are formed under the influence of society and the experience that we gain throughout our lives. Getting rid of them is not easy.

Why Work on Beliefs?

Are you uncomfortable? Do you feel that you could achieve more, but something keeps pulling you down or holding you in place, preventing you from breaking through the financial ceiling, promoting yourself as an expert, or achieving more difficult goals? Most likely, it is they who interfere – your beliefs.

Admit it: have you ever thought that all rich people amassed their property in a dishonest way? This is one of the beliefs that became stronger in us after the dashing 90s, when many people “rose up”: “Money is evil”, “You can’t earn money with honest work.”

At the same time, everyone wants to live, not survive. Allow yourself to rest here and now, and not save up for a trip for three years. Help your parents, secure the future of your children. Behind financial freedom is a sea of opportunities: to choose what kind of life to live, what job to work, what to wear, how to develop.

You can’t buy health, but you can afford the best spas and medical centers, quality food and full days off, consultations with a psychologist or a coach for psychological relief and personal growth. The state of the body and soul just constitutes the outline of health, the care of which is precisely ensured with the help of material means.

In this article, I will break down the top 10 beliefs that get in the way of financial freedom and show you how to work with them.

What are beliefs

1. I want to make money fast

Random transactions bring easy income, but do not allow you to grow and develop financially. Quickly earned – quickly spent. It often happens that people who win the lottery or receive a large inheritance spend a fortune and return to the same level they were before, or slide even lower. Or businessmen who, having received the first profit, immediately consider themselves successful and begin to live beyond their means. But if today it was possible to sell the goods, it is not a fact that tomorrow it will be possible to repeat the success.

  • What gave rise to such a belief? Life in restrictions from paycheck to paycheck, self-doubt, lack of a culture of dealing with money in childhood.
  • What to do? Work for the future, think strategically and lay the foundation that success is the result of your consistent actions.

2. No time for business

Time is never enough, but opportunities are where we focus our attention. Therefore, there is a necessary resource for true desires.

  • What gave rise to such a belief? The habit of doing everything yourself, an overabundance of tasks set for the day, super-productivity and the eternal race for unattainable goals, lack of time management skills.
  • What to do? Make a plan with intermediate actions, devote 10-20-30 minutes every day to their implementation, delegate operational activities, hire assistants.

3. I have to do everything myself to be proud of myself.

You can not ask for help and with the last effort to achieve everything on your own. But why, if in the end people evaluate the quality of your product, and not how much energy you spent on creating it? By the way, thanks to synergy (cooperation), many businesses have grown many times over.

  • What gave rise to such a belief? Low self-esteem, excellent student syndrome.
  • What to do? Recruit a team in which everyone will be a professional in their field. Collect a bank of ideas, destroy hypotheses, create partnerships.

4. The more we invest in a business, the more profitable it becomes

Money, connections, resources will certainly help increase your income. But they will give you an advantage over competitors only for a while.

  • What gave rise to such a belief? Observation of a similar scenario in others and the conclusion that this should be the case for everyone.
  • What to do? Instead of looking for the next niche or sales channel, focus on your competitive advantages, on your strengths, on your ability to think outside the box.

5. I don’t need advice! I know everything best

From a position, it is difficult for managers to learn from someone else’s experience and delegate. Authoritarian bosses try to do everything in time, control everything, and as a result they burn out.

  • What gave rise to such a belief? Distrust of people, high self-esteem.
  • What to do? Learn to trust, form an attitude that communication with other people helps to develop business faster and more efficiently.

Being aware of your beliefs and being willing to work on them will help you achieve financial freedom.

6. I have no right to be wrong. Everything must be done perfectly or not done at all.

This belief is deeply ingrained in the minds of those who were often scolded in childhood. Therefore, an adult is afraid to do something wrong. But misses are useful and point to new opportunities. It doesn’t matter how many times you fall, what matters is how many times you get up.

  • What gave rise to such a belief? Exaggerated demands on oneself, insecurity, low self-esteem.
  • What to do? Treat mistakes as learning. Try and don’t be afraid. In case of failure, each person has the right to be upset, angry and live their emotions. But each of our failures is a path to success.

7. Money is dirty

This belief, in principle, kills the love of work. A person with such a conviction does not feel satisfaction from his activities, evaluates himself low and is ready to work for a penny.

  • What gave rise to such a belief? Remember the phrase from the old movie: “Our people don’t take taxis to the bakery.” In the Soviet Union, high income and sophistication immediately raised questions, envy and censure. Our grandparents or parents passed on such beliefs to the next generations.
  • What to do? Change your attitude towards the essence of money. Money is a form of gratitude for work. If my work is appreciated, then I appreciate myself.

8. I will not succeed in a successful business, because I know little and can

There are professions where you need to work long and hard, for example, a doctor, a pilot or a lawyer. But at the same time, there are enough examples in business where young, courageous and enthusiastic entrepreneurs have reached incredible heights. Steve Jobs, Mark Zuckerberg and others gained experience and knowledge directly in the process of creating their business.

  • What gave rise to such a belief? Low self-esteem, impostor syndrome.
  • What to do? To form an attitude that the right business starts with strategy and desire. Everything you need can always be learned as needed.

9. You have to work hard to make a lot of money.

The highest paid work is no longer associated with heavy physical exertion. Now everyone chooses how to earn money. With the proliferation of online professions, you can multiply the level of income that you previously had offline.

  • What gave rise to such a belief? The setting has been passed down from generation to generation. Our grandparents worked in factories, our parents worked five days a week, were on duty at night, took second shifts to feed their families.
  • What to do? Form the installation: “Money can be earned easily and with pleasure.” Do not create new difficulties, solve problems. Think about what you do best and monetize your skills.

10. Honest work does not earn a lot of money

A very convenient installation that justifies fear and laziness. Why try to be successful when you can just be a good person. However, you can find many examples of honest business, where people give something valuable to people, such as a quality product, jobs, a useful service.

  • What gave rise to such a belief? The substitution of concepts occurred thanks to action-packed films and books, where we see cruel and greedy rich people who go over their heads.
  • What to do? To form an attitude that a business can benefit not only its owner, but also other people.

How does a psychologist help change beliefs?

You come to coaching with a specific request: for example, you hit a financial ceiling, you work hard and hard, but you are marking time. In the course of working together, you find answers to your questions and highlight the reasons that prevent you from earning more.

One of the participants in my transformational program had many requests for services, but there was a catastrophic lack of time. Incomes did not grow at the available demand. During coaching, she found a belief that hindered her: “I have to do everything myself so that I can be proud of myself.” We reworked it into a positive statement: “Asking for help is a sign of strong, confident and successful entrepreneurs.” The client recruited a team of 10 people and increased her revenue from 400 thousand to 1,5 million.

Being aware of your beliefs and being willing to work on them will help you achieve financial freedom and live the life you want. If you couldn’t achieve the desired result on your own, you can always contact a business psychologist. It guides and saves a lot of time. You will not be looking for a black cat in a dark room, but will be able to work precisely on your settings.

Your beliefs are in your hands. Or rather, in the head. Change your thoughts and your world will change! And if change is not easy, you can turn to a business psychologist for help, as many entrepreneurs do.
