10 actors of the series “Slave Izaura”: then and now

In 1875, Bernardo Guimarães published a book about a slave named Isaura. The book condemned slavery. And, interestingly, at that time slaves had not yet been abandoned in Brazil, this happened only 13 years later, in 1888.

Almost 100 years later, the Globu TV company decided to make a TV series based on this book. It had 100 episodes (each lasting 25 minutes), but for the rental it was cut, making 30 episodes of half an hour.

Before the viewers of the USSR, the telenovela was remounted, combining 2 episodes each, they were able to see it in 1988. It was the first such show, it had the effect of an exploding bomb. So, many began to jokingly call their plots “hacienda”, and the heroes of the series fell in love, discussed in every house.
