Some parents, until the last moment, cannot decide what to name their child. An ordinary name is too trite, and to come up with an unusual one – you can put a pig on your own child, because just give your peers a reason for teasing. Therefore, in our country, the imagination of parents was legally limited, forbidding to call children alphanumeric combinations, abbreviations, and offensive words. And in other countries there is a list of prohibited names. Unfortunately, the name of Tracy Redford’s daughter was not included in this list.
Mom named the baby Abcde. “Pronounced like Ab-city,” she proudly clarified in a conversation with reporters. The reason for the conversations with the media representatives was the unpleasant situation that the mother and daughter encountered at the airport. Employees of the airline, whose services Tracey used, openly laughed at her fictional mom.
“My daughter asked me why they were laughing at her name,” Tracy told reporters indignantly. – It is unacceptable!”
About unacceptable – she’s right. But users on the Internet pointed out to her what is still unacceptable in such a situation. That’s right: to call the child an openly ridiculous name, and then be surprised that no one appreciated their creativity. Some even asked to change the girl’s name. “After all, they will scoff at her all her life,” – the text of one of the comments. The mother had to explain to the five-year-old baby that the world is a cruel place in which not all people are equally nice. And on social networks, they continued to be surprised that some parents do not think at all about their own children in an effort to stand out from the crowd. Why deliberately expose a child to the risk of being ridiculed, and even for something that he could not influence in any way?
Representatives of the airline, by the way, apologized to Tracy Redford. But whether she will apologize to her daughter is still unknown.
