The name of the diet is “If It Fits Your Macros” (IIFYM), and it is growing in popularity due to its rather democratic approach to nutrition. The main thing in the IIFYM diet is the three most important sources of energy that your body needs: proteins, carbohydrates, fats (the so-called macronutrients or macros).

To get started, calculate your calorie needs – to do this, record what you eat daily on any app or online calorie counting site. Then redistribute the food so that 40 percent is carbohydrates, 40 percent protein, and 20 percent fat. This ratio is considered to be the most effective for muscle growth and fat burning.

 

It should be borne in mind that weight will decrease with a lack of calories, so for a faster effect, reduce your usual calorie intake by 10 percent.

It is not so important to distribute macros throughout the day, the main thing is to adhere to the ratio. At the same time, you can choose your favorite products in each category. For example, use meat or fish, seafood, vegetable proteins, dairy as a source of protein.

Diet macro expands your diet and does not limit visiting institutions and holidays, where you can always find the dish you need. Look in the menu for the ratio of calories and weight of the dish, and at a party, estimate the weight and ratio of ingredients so that you can take into account everything eaten at home.
