«Wise» advice from the Internet, which should not be followed

Motivating quotes and «eternal truths» fall on the unfortunate head of everyone who uses the Internet, an endless stream — and it is far from always possible to perceive them critically. We have collected for you popular statements that should not be taken seriously.

1. The winner is the one who moves slowly and measuredly

If it’s a marathon, then yes, maybe, but most often have to run a sprint. We all, whether we like it or not, can be considered slaves of time: its supply, allotted for most tasks, is limited. Tick-tock, tick-tock… In addition, we live in a competitive world and exist at high speeds, which means that whoever was the first to do it is well done.

2. You need to listen to your elders

In a number of countries, this is still an unshakable rule: parents make important decisions regarding the future life and career path of their children, without asking the latter. Listening to the opinions of other people, including older relatives, is certainly not bad, but blindly following their precepts, giving up your dreams, is a direct path to disappointment.

3. Silence is the best answer to most questions

But why then invented words and actions? The ability to use speech to our advantage is sometimes simply irreplaceable, especially when we are attacked and offended, and we defend ourselves.

4. Nothing is impossible

By itself, this motivating phrase is not bad, because in the moment it helps to feel better. It charges us with adrenaline and self-confidence, gives us the strength to move forward. True, the goal towards which we are moving must be achievable, that is, be within our strength and “too tough”. Otherwise, self-confidence will not help.

5. Relinquishing Expectations Is the Path to Satisfaction

Preparing for failure in advance so that success seems sweeter, and the fall is not so painful, is a dubious undertaking. Maybe you should stop deceiving yourself, and instead muster up the courage and take action?

6. It doesn’t matter what others think

How important. We are social beings, and it is normal to care about how others perceive us. Thus, we invest in the future and provide ourselves with new opportunities to achieve something and get what we want.

7. Do not compare yourself with others: everyone has their own path

We are told that we are different, but is it really so? We belong to the same species and strive plus or minus for the same. It is normal to look around from time to time to understand where we are now, and also in order to learn from the most worthy.

8. Our problem is that we think too much.

If by this statement we mean winding up on oneself out of the blue, then, perhaps, this will not lead to anything good. But it is necessary to think and analyze before taking important steps.

9. Everything comes to those who know how to wait

As mentioned earlier, we live in an era of high speeds and intense competition. We are not a wine that only gets better with age. To achieve what you want, you need to work on yourself and strive for something, and not sit back. Evolution is the law of nature, the destiny of people is to perform revolutionary deeds.

10 It is important to be yourself

Self-acceptance is important and necessary, but everyone has flaws and bad habits that make it difficult to develop and move forward. “Become a better version of yourself” is a populist call, but if it involves a healthier, stronger and more educated “version of yourself”, it is reasonable.

11. And always follow your heart

The task of the heart is to pump blood through the vessels, and not to determine what we should and should not do. If you justify your most stupid deeds, vices and destructive decisions by the dictates of your heart, it will not end in anything good. We have a brain, a consciousness, our Dr. Jekyll, who is worth more trust than the wild Mr. Hyde.
