Who in St. Petersburg created the trend for veneers

Aesthetic dentistry has emerged as a separate field for a long time, and this was done by American dentists about 40 years ago. The beginning was laid by Robert Ibsen, who pioneered the technique of covering teeth with super-thin ceramic veneers, so that in the end the teeth had an attractive shape and color.

Now the demand for the services of aesthetic dentists is great, and it continues to grow not only all over the world, but also in Russia. It should be said that both the middle class and the business elite are interested in aesthetics. This is due to the fact that a beautiful smile is now inseparably included in the image of a “successful person”. And in some countries, for example the United States, if you don’t smile with an even row of bright white teeth, you are not selected for a worthy position. So, in my practice, aesthetic dental restorations were carried out for patients preparing for long-term work in the United States. We made bright and expressive smiles for these people so that they would become their own across the ocean. I recently received a letter from California thanking them for their career contributions.

On the way to aesthetic changes in a smile, the main thing for us is not to harm, therefore, in order to determine the patient’s desires as accurately as possible, predict and clearly demonstrate the future result, we use computer simulation of a smile, as well as the “fitting method”. The digital technologies of the clinic “Veronica” help the patient, even before the start of the restorations, to assess his appearance with the desired smile, to understand whether this is really what he wanted. After diagnostics and taking impressions, we, together with a dental technician, recreate a suitable form of veneers on a plaster model of the patient’s teeth, which is then tried on by the patient.

With a new temporary smile, the patient can even go home, evaluate the installed models of veneers with his family (especially often husbands get approval from their wives during fitting) and give me feedback on the next visit. We discuss with the patient all the comments on the smile project and start the production of permanent veneers in order to install them on the next visit.

In my work, I primarily value the dialogue and trust from patients. I have been engaged in smile aesthetics for 20 years, during this time I studied a lot, adopted the experience of foreign colleagues, introduced technologies to improve the quality and maintain minimal invasiveness in the installation of veneers. Despite the economic difficulties in the country and the world, patients’ requests for expressive smiles are not decreasing. People don’t stop investing in their looks.
