Vitamin shake – up: preparing school snacks from dried fruits and nuts

A school snack should be nutritious and balanced, bring benefits to the body and, of course, children like it. These qualities are very successfully combined with dried fruits and nuts. Sandwich with tropical motifs

Homemade bread with delicious additives will be an ideal basis for sandwiches. Especially if we take dried tropical fruits and nuts “Semushka”as additives. Thanks to careful processing, the fruits have preserved a delicate aroma and a pristine rich taste. And nuts are full of antioxidants, vitamins and useful fatty acids that are essential for the child’s body.

We dilute 6 g of dry yeast and 1 tbsp of honey in 100 ml of warm water, leave it alone for 15 minutes. In a deep bowl, mix 125 g of rye flour and 375 g of wheat flour. Gradually introduce the foamed yeast, pour in another 250 ml of water, put a pinch of salt and knead the dough. Cut into pieces of 50-60 g of dried bananas, pineapples and papaya. We knead a little 70 g of pecans with a rolling pin. Pour the tropical assorted nuts into the dough, knead again. We cover it with a towel and leave it for an hour.

Now we put the dough in a bread pan with parchment paper and put it in the oven at 180 °C for 30 minutes. Cut a generous slice from the finished bread and put a lettuce leaf and cheese on top,which the child loves most. Here is an original hearty snack for you.

Pure energy

Energy bars are liked by all children without exception. There is no better alternative to harmful chocolate bars. Traditional dried fruits and nuts “Semushka”will help to make a really useful delicacy for a snack. Whatever product you take, each of them contains a rich combination of the most important vitamins and minerals. During the autumn vitamin deficiency, the child’s body needs it more than ever.

Soak 150 g of dried apricots and prunes in boiling water for 10 minutes, drain the water and dry. Together with 250 g of dates, we grind them in a meat grinder or blender. In a dry frying pan, pour 200 g of assorted hazelnuts, almonds, peanuts and walnuts. You can add a handful of peeled pumpkin and sunflower seeds here. Stirring frequently, fry the mix for 5-7 minutes and immediately combine with mashed dried fruits. For a more interesting taste, you can put dried cranberries and raisins here.

While the fruit and nut mass has not had time to harden, we form sausages, roll them thickly in sesame seeds, wrap them in food wrap. They will spend the next 3-4 hours in the refrigerator. Cut the sausages into bars and give them to the child to school with you.

Cottage cheese and southern fruits

Cottage cheese has a long-standing friendship with dried fruits and nuts. This set of ingredients will make nutritious healthy cupcakes. We offer to dream up a little and add dried black plums “Semushka”to the filling. These fruits come from Armenia and have preserved their unique flavor and multifaceted taste. A harmonious pair of them will be fried hazelnuts. And it also gives the baking a stunning aroma and seductive nutty shades.

Rub 150 g of softened butter with 100 g of sugar, a pinch of salt and vanilla on the tip of a knife. One by one, we introduce 3 eggs into the mass and beat with a mixer. Continuing to beat, add 200 g of soft cottage cheese and 100 g of thick sour cream. Then sift 300 g of flour with 1 tsp of baking powder and knead a rather viscous dough.

Cut into a cube 160 g of dried plums. Since the hazelnuts are already fried, it is enough to slightly crush it with a rolling pin. Pour the plums with nuts into the dough and knead. Fill the cupcake molds with it, bake in the oven at 180 °C for half an hour. A couple of such cupcakes is quite enough for the child to thoroughly eat at recess.

Gingerbread in a new color

Can’t your children live without chocolate? Prepare a chocolate cake for a snack. It will be perfectly complemented by dates “Semushka”. They contain enough vitamins that are key to the children’s diet. And we will get the essential omega-acids with micro – and macronutrients from walnuts. Such an energy recharge will benefit the children’s brain.

We steam 100 g of plums in boiling water, dry them and cut them into slices. The walnuts are already fried — they just need to be chopped with a knife. Heat 200 ml of water, add 5-8 tablespoons of honey and 2-3 tablespoons of cocoa. We put the mass on a water bath and, stirring constantly, melt the honey and get rid of the lumps. Let it cool, pour 80 ml of vegetable oil, put a pinch of cinnamon and nutmeg.

Now gradually pour 200 g of flour with 1 tsp of baking powder and a pinch of salt, knead the dough. Add the plum and nuts, knead again. The baking dish is greased with butter, sprinkled with ground breadcrumbs, filled with dough. We send it to the oven at 180 °C for 40 minutes. To make it tastier, pour the melted chocolate over the cake and sprinkle with crushed nuts. Cut it into portions and put it in the child’s food container.

Oatmeal classic with a twist

Oat flakes, dried fruits and nuts are another extremely useful combination for a school snack. It just begs for oatmeal cookies. Uzbek raisins “Semushka” of two types — golden and black-will help to revive the classic recipe. Both of them are made from selected Central Asian grape varieties, and therefore they will give an unusual taste to baking.

Fill 60 g of raisins of two varieties with hot water. After 5 minutes, we throw it into a colander and dry it. Beat 150 ml of natural yogurt with an egg, 150 g of sugar and 2-3 tablespoons of vegetable oil with a mixer. In this mixture, we extinguish with a small amount of vinegar ¼ tsp.soda. We begin to gradually pour 150 g of flour and knead the dough. Next, we introduce 1 tsp. vanilla extract, 1 tbsp. lemon zest, pour out all the raisins. At the end, add 250-300 g of dry oat flakes of long cooking, mix and leave to swell for half an hour.

We put small neat “washers”on a baking sheet with parchment paper with a spoon. We put it in a preheated 180 °C oven for 15-20 minutes. Give your child a lot of ruddy oatmeal cookies so that he can treat his friends.
