The Retinto returns in Zahara

The Cadiz town of Zahara de los Atunes celebrates a new edition of the gastronomic tribute to red meat

It will be a new edition of tasty beef that from September 23 to 27 will give color to the Ruta del Retinto 2015.

Some forty hospitality establishments in the town will celebrate this traditional gastronomic route to once again put the prestigious Retinta beef at the center of the national culinary scene.

As in previous editions of the Route, the red meat of its cattle will eclipse the well-known delicacy of its coasts, which is caught in the trap, which is none other than Tuna.

The Zahara de los Atunes Merchants Association (ACOZA), organizes and sponsors the event to help the dissemination of the excellent meat raw material of its cattle, while expanding the culinary concept of this Atlantic coastal town that, because of its name, seems to only live on “tuna”.

The gastronomic event in contest format will be evaluated by a professional jury made up of Fernando Sainz de la Maza, chef and owner of the Michelin-starred restaurant The Rowan from Santander, Gonzalo Jurado, chef and owner of the Sevillian gastro tavern Tradevo y  Javier Muñoz Soto, owner of the Jerez restaurant in La Carboná.

The best professional and popular tapa will fight again to be the main award of the Route that rivals the award of best waiter that year after year makes the masters of the bars take great pains in the way they serve and present the product.

Music, concerts, photographic contests and even horse races on the beach will complete the festive days of Zahara, which shows its playful character year after year in these last days of summer.
