The queen of the competition was crowned with a crown made of silver with gilding and semi-precious stones. Sofia Larina won the right to represent the country at the Miss World International Beauty Contest. In addition, a twenty-year-old student of the Siberian University of Railways became the owner of a Mercedes car.

The first vice-miss of the competition was Ekaterina Kopylova from Tver, and the second place went to Zhanna Vlasyevskaya from Kemerovo. Both girls received cars as a gift. The rest of the finalists of the competition were awarded a trip to Paris.

In total, 62 girls from almost all regions of Russia took part in the Beauty of Russia competition. The competition was held in four stages, excluding the intellectual round (only bikini, dance and classic ballroom dress). 14 contestants were promoted to the second round.

This year, the organizers of the “Beauty of Russia” have officially announced their intention to move away from the classic standards of beauty. Girls whose height is lower than 180 centimeters required for such events, and the parameters are somewhat different from the classic 90-60-90, were able to take part in the competition. For example, student of St. Petersburg State University Anna Vishnevskaya, who took third place (third “Beauty of Russia”), turned out to be the smallest in the competition, her height – 169 cm.

It is noteworthy that the other day a similar contest was held in Great Britain – “Miss England – 2008”, which set new standards of beauty in the country. The winner of the competition was Laura Colman, but she was overshadowed by the finalist who took second place. Chloe Marshall with her fiftieth clothing size bypassed skinny rivals and received the title “Vice Miss England”.
