Small McDonald’s restaurants open – for bees

McHive, the new McDonald’s restaurant, does not serve burgers or fries, but functions like a full-fledged hive. However, it is equipped with windows for McDrive and outdoor tables. And all because his clients are bees.

In addition to the decorative purpose, this project has a more serious and global one. This is a way to draw attention to the problem of the extinction of bees on the planet.

According to research, bees do 80% of the world’s pollination, while 70% of the crops that serve for human nutrition are also pollinated by these insects. 90% of the food produced in the world in one way or another depends on the work of bees.

McDonald’s wants to highlight the important mission of wild bees on earth with the help of McHive.

At first, a functioning hive was placed on the roof of one restaurant, but now their number has increased to five establishments.

Created in collaboration with Nord DDB and touted as “the world’s smallest McDonald’s”, this tiny structure is spacious enough for thousands of bees to do their good work.

We will remind, earlier we told that McDonald’s are inundated with requests for a vegetarian menu.
