Pandanus leaves – the new trending superfood
 

The leaves of this plant have even displaced the avocado from the pedestal, bursting into cooking with a new fashionable trend. The world’s most influential foodies convince us that the benefits of pandanus leaves cannot be overstated. What kind of food is it and how to use it?

Pandanus leaves are similar in appearance to palm leaves, and they grow in Southeast Asia. Therefore, this plant is widely used in Malaysian, Indonesian, Thai cuisine. The leaves are sweet to taste with an almond-vanilla aftertaste.

Pandan leaves are used for baking, drinks, added to main dishes. Among the beneficial properties of this superfood are stimulation of brain activity, relieving fatigue and tension, increasing immunity, detoxifying the body and antioxidant properties. The leaves also help with sunburn, stress and ward off insects.

 

In eastern countries, pandanus leaves are commonly added to rice and coconut desserts. In general, the combination of this plant with coconut provides an excellent base for making sauces, creams, puddings and ice cream.

The rich hue of pandanus leaves is used to give dishes a beautiful green color. They can also be used to wrap fish and meat during cooking to give them a different look.

Due to their nutty flavor, pandanus leaves are great for making smoothies, cocktails, syrups, and alcoholic drinks and teas.
