Sciatica is a disease of the peripheral nervous system that affects the bundles of nerve fibers extending from the spinal cord, the so-called spinal cord roots.

Causes of sciatica

The occurrence of this disease is directly related to the inflammation of the spinal nerves. The main cause of sciatica is considered osteochondrosis not cured in time. In addition, previously received spinal injuries, the presence of intervertebral hernias, salt deposits on the joints and cartilage contribute to the development of this disease. There have also been cases of provoking sciatica by stressful situations, infectious diseases, metabolic disorders and heavy lifting.

Symptoms of sciatica

The first sign of the disease is the occurrence of dull or sharp pain in the area of ​​the spinal nerve lesions. Repeating from time to time, or not disappearing at all, it brings a person continuous discomfort. In addition, patients note a loss of strength in the muscles, numbness in the limbs, and a tingling and burning sensation.

Tomatoes, carrots, cucumbers, radishes and spinach not only contain sodium, magnesium, iron, but also vitamins A, B, C, E, etc., which make the body work like clockwork and are natural antioxidants. They also improve the metabolism in the body. In addition, salads and juices are helpful.
  • Fish, poultry (ducks, for example), milk, eggs, beans, nuts, corn, mushrooms, eggplants, seeds should make up a third of the meal due to the presence of proteins in them. Sheep meat and white fish are especially useful, as they are characterized by the presence of unsaturated fats.
  • The consumption of natural cheeses, soy pods, fish, cauliflower, peas enriches the body with phosphorus.

Folk remedies for the treatment of sciatica

  • The dough mixed with rye flour without yeast with the addition of 1 tsp is very helpful. turpentine. It is necessary to wait until it becomes sour, and then put it in a small layer on cheesecloth folded in four, and apply it to the sore spot overnight, but this procedure must be done no more than 10 times.
  • A belt with pockets made of canvas cures sciatica if you carry a horse chestnut in your pockets.
  • Ice made from sage extract (it is diluted with water in proportions of 1: 5) can cure sciatica if it is rubbed with a sore spot.
  • Compresses on the lower back from valerian tincture help with sciatica. It is necessary to keep them as much as possible, as they cause not very pleasant sensations.

  • Fatty cottage cheese, whole milk, sour cream and mayonnaise should be replaced with low-fat foods, as they disrupt metabolism.
  • Carbonated drinks and alcohol are harmful to joints and the spine.
  • It is better to exclude strong tea and coffee, as they negatively affect the nervous system. Moreover, having a diuretic effect, they cause the body to lose a lot of fluid.
  • Spicy spices, salt and sugar are harmful, as they prevent the elimination of fluid from the body and provoke the appearance of edema due to existing inflammations.
