New Year’s Eve is great fun that lasts all night long. There must be snacks on it. But maybe this year you will offer your guests a healthier version of them?

New Year’s Eve is the day we enter the new year. This brings with it strong New Year’s resolutions. They concern many issues, but are often related to the desire to change our eating habits for the better. Maybe it is worth starting on this breakthrough day? How can you replace the snacks traditionally served at New Year’s Eve parties with a healthier version? I have prepared a few suggestions that you can serve at your New Year’s Eve party.

1. Toasts “fit”

Toast is a snack that is often served on tables during a party. Tasty, small triangles, however, provide us with a lot of calories. How to reduce the calories of this snack? My suggestion (1 serving):

– a slice of whole grain toast

– ½ beet

– 30 g of goat’s cheese

— arugula

– sunflower

Wash the beetroot thoroughly, wrap it in aluminum foil and bake it until it softens (about 40 minutes) in an oven preheated to 150 degrees Celsius. Roast the sunflower seeds in a pan. Bake the bread gently in a toaster, then brush with goat cheese. Slice the baked beetroot and place it on the bread. Finally, add a little rocket and previously roasted sunflower seeds.

1 serving of toast with baked beetroot – 181,4 kcal

1 serving of toast with Gouda cheese and salami – 385 kcal

2. Salad

A dish that is quick to prepare, which can also be significantly “slimmed down”. The traditional salad of cooked vegetables with the addition of mayonnaise can be replaced by raw vegetables sprinkled with olive oil. A salad of boiled potatoes, eggs, carrots, green peas and mayonnaise is 409,5 kcal in 100 g. I made two salads, which are much less caloric, and at the same time provide an amazing injection of vitamins and minerals.

Salad 1 (178,6 kcal / 100g):

– arugula, lamb’s lettuce, kale,

– Cherry tomatoes,

– black olives,

– Dried cranberries,

– olive oil,

– salt pepper.

Salad 2 (145,15kcal / 100g):

— arugula, rosponka,

– baked beetroot,

– ‘Feta’ type cheese,

– roasted sunflower seeds.

3. Vegetable chips

The New Year’s Eve party cannot miss the snack that is so eagerly eaten at the table. Traditional crisps are a large dose of empty calories. You can replace them with roasted vegetables that have a texture similar to traditional crisps. If you want to create a flavor of your choice, all you need to do is use the right spices. Carrot or beetroot crisps are a great idea. My version of paprika chips is kale, seasoned with salt, sweet paprika and a little olive oil before baking.

Kale – 100 g – 44 kcal – 0,7 g of fat

Pepper chips – 100 g – 515 kcal – 30 g of fat

4. Sushi – an alternative to roulade

There are plenty of ideas for meat roulades. They are loaded with cold cuts, cheese, bacon, vegetables, among others. A healthier alternative may be the Japanese dish – sushi, which is becoming more and more popular in our country. For comparison, a traditional beef roulade filled with bacon, onion, pickled cucumber and mustard has 224 kcal in 100 g, while sushi with smoked salmon is only 142 kcal in 100 g.

5. Vegetable sticks

In addition to chips, the New Year’s Eve party also includes sticks. We can replace the salty snack, which provides us with 420 kcal / 100g, with chopped vegetables, such as cucumbers, carrots, and peppers. Prepare the sauces for the vegetable sticks. To prepare them, you will need:

– 400 ml of natural Greek yoghurt

– 3 cloves of garlic

– 1 teaspoon of wasabi horseradish

Divide the yogurt evenly into two bowls. Mix one part with wasabi horseradish, add the garlic pressed through the press to the other. Guests will be able to choose a sauce that suits them best.

I hope that I inspired you with a bit of inspiration for the culinary part of New Year’s Eve. But remember that the most important thing tonight is having fun. I hope that you will be able to fulfill all New Year’s resolutions. Happy New 2016 Year!
