Experts from the American edition of US News & World Report evaluated the 35 most popular diets in the world and recognized the best in 2020 as the Mediterranean.

They explained their choice by the fact that people in Mediterranean countries live longer and to a lesser extent than most Americans, suffer from cancer and cardiovascular disease. The secret is simple: an active lifestyle, weight control and a diet low in red meat, sugar, saturated fat and high in energy and other healthy foods.

In 2010, the Mediterranean diet was recognized as a UNESCO national cultural heritage site.

 

5 rules of the Mediterranean diet

  1. The main rule of the Mediterranean diet – a large amount of plant foods and restrictions on red meat.
  2. The second rule – the mandatory inclusion in the diet of olive oil, as it contains substances that cleanse the body.
  3. The third rule is the presence in the menu of quality dry wine, which will improve metabolism and improve digestion.
  4. Over time, this diet has no restrictions, as its menu contains all the necessary substances for the human body and its health. You will notice the first results in a week or two – it’s up to minus 5 kilos.
  5. It is important to follow a drinking regimen and drink at least one and a half to two liters a day.
