Mesotherapy for the face – what is this procedure, what gives, how is it performed [beautician’s review]

What is Facial Mesotherapy

In cosmetology, mesotherapy is such a universal remedy in the fight for youthful skin. Mesotherapy involves the intradermal administration of complex preparations with active ingredients – the so-called meso-cocktails.

The composition of such drugs usually includes the following components:

  • vitamins and minerals;
  • antioxidants;
  • amino acids;
  • hyaluronic, glycolic and other acids;
  • extracts of herbs and plants;
  • medicines (strictly according to the indications and in agreement with the doctor).

What is mesotherapy done?

Mesotherapy can be injectable (drugs are administered using multiple injections with ultra-thin needles) or non-injectable (mesococktails are injected under the skin using special devices). In both cases, facial mesotherapy procedures are performed on an outpatient basis, in the beautician’s office.

Why you need mesotherapy for the face

When and why do you need facial mesotherapy? As we have already said, “beauty injections” are a fairly universal remedy for facial rejuvenation with a wide range of applications.

The beautician may recommend a course of mesotherapy in the following cases:

  • The first signs of skin aging:
  • lethargy, decreased tone and elasticity, wrinkles;
  • hyperpigmentation, uneven tone or dull complexion;
  • spider veins, swelling or circles under the eyes;
  • minor skin defects: creases, nasolabial folds, small scars, scars and stretch marks;
  • excessive oiliness or, conversely, dry skin.

There is also a small list of contraindications, in which it is recommended to refrain from meso-procedures:

  • inflammatory processes in the treatment area;
  • pregnancy and lactation;
  • blood clotting disorders, vascular pathologies;
  • oncological diseases;
  • a number of chronic diseases in the acute stage.

Remember that in case of doubt, it is always better to consult with a specialist doctor.

The effect of mesotherapy for the face

As a result of a well-conducted course of mesotherapy, the following results can be expected:

  • the skin tone increases, it becomes firm and elastic;
  • the complexion improves, the general rejuvenating effect is visually noticeable;
  • manifestations of hyperpigmentation are reduced, skin tone is leveled;
  • there is a restoration of hydrolipidic balance, skin hydration increases;
  • point fat deposits are reduced (in particular, in the chin area), the severity of wrinkles and creases is reduced;
  • there is a general stimulation of metabolic processes, the ability of the skin to regenerate is activated.

At the same time, mesotherapy of the face and as a procedure has many advantages. Why has it become especially popular with cosmetologists and patients?

  • Low trauma to the skin and a short recovery period
  • Wide range of indications
  • Possibility to perform the procedure locally or on the area of the whole face (and body)
  • Long-term effect up to 1-1,5 years

At the same time, the disadvantages of mesotherapy can only be attributed to the need to conduct a full and supportive course to achieve maximum results, as well as possible painful reactions in people with high sensitivity of facial skin.

Types of mesotherapy for the face

As we have already said, globally mesotherapy can be injection or hardware. And if everything is clear with injections: they are done either manually with a thin needle, or with a special apparatus with a certain number of needles … Then there are a lot of hardware methods for mesotherapy:

  • ion mesotherapy: active substances are carried into the deep layers of the skin using electrodes installed on the treated areas;
  • oxygen mesotherapy: meso-preparations are injected into the skin under pressure, with the help of a strong and thin jet of oxygen;
  • laser mesotherapy: saturation of the skin with useful substances occurs under the influence of laser radiation;
  • hydromesotherapy (electroporation): active ingredients are delivered inside the layers of the epidermis using an electric current;
  • cryomesotherapy: exposure is carried out with the help of cold and microcurrents.

How do mesotherapy sessions work?

There is nothing complicated in the mesotherapy procedure, it is carried out in several simple steps:

  1. Preparation: for a few days it is recommended to limit alcohol consumption and avoid exposure to open sunlight.
  2. Disinfection and anesthesia: immediately before the start of the mesotherapy session, a disinfectant and anesthetic gel are applied to the face.
  3. Then the subcutaneous injection of meso-preparations for the face is performed – by injection or non-injection method.
  4. After that, the treated areas of the face are disinfected again and special soothing and fixing agents are applied.

What can not be done after the session?

Despite the fact that mesotherapy does not require a long recovery period, there is still a certain list of recommendations and restrictions:

  • On the first day, you should not use decorative cosmetics and, moreover, “cover up” the traces of the procedure.
  • For a few days it is better to give up active sports, visits to the bath and sauna, hot baths.
  • You should avoid being in the open sun and refrain from visiting the solarium.
  • At home, it is recommended to take care of the skin with the help of well-chosen cosmetic products aimed at restoring the skin and consolidating the results of mesotherapy.
