Any nutritional clinic, like any other medical or preventive institution that provides medical services (including specialized sanatoriums for weight loss), defines therapeutic dietary nutrition as one of the components of successful treatment.

Medical diet for weight loss unlike other effective non-medical diets (also giving an answer to the question of how to lose weight quickly, diets respond with different approaches) additionally monitors the following parameters to achieve an optimal weight loss result:

  • selection of foods for the diet
  • product processing technology
  • meal time
  • frequency of food intake

Usually, all medical institutions (including nutritional clinics) use a numbered diet system that is generally accepted in medical and clinical practice. According to this numbering medical diet for weight loss is located at 8th position and is called Diet number 8 (Table number 8).

Prescribing a medical diet for weight loss

Two main points stand out here:

  • Elimination of the accumulation of excess adipose tissue in the body with any degree of obesity.
  • Prevention of excessive deposition of adipose tissue in the presence of concomitant diseases (in combination with other diets).

Indications:

Overweight or obesity of the first, second, third degree as an underlying disease or in the presence of other diseases that do not require the use of special diets in the absence of any disturbances in the functioning of the digestive tract.

Characteristics of the medical diet for weight loss

The energy value of the diet decreases mainly due to easily digestible carbohydrates and, to a lesser extent, fats of both vegetable and animal origin. Protein content decreases primarily due to animal origin. Limiting the intake of salt and non-food fluids entering the body.

Medical diet for weight loss involves a complete exclusion from the diet of appetite-enhancing foods, flavoring seasonings and extractives (they have no nutritional value, but they are strong causative agents of the secretion of digestive juices, and as a result, they promote better absorption of food – this is good in ordinary life, but not at the moment weight loss – similar requirements and most other effective diets – for example, the Japanese diet).

The chemical composition of medical slimming diet products

Restrictions on the chemical composition of products:

  • At least 60% of the protein entering the body must be animal proteins
  • At least 25% of fats must be vegetable fats
  • The daily salt intake should not exceed 8 grams (of which 5 grams are given to the person on a diet, and the remaining 3 are contained in the foods consumed)
  • The maximum free liquid not bound to food is 1,2 liters.

Medical diet slimming diet

It should be noted that after reaching the required body weight, general approaches to nutrition should not change significantly – first of all, this applies to foods excluded from the menu. In this case, you can use other culinary technologies (steaming, stewing, baking, etc.).

First of all, the advantage of a medical diet for weight loss is that it is clinically tested and used in all medical institutions – its effectiveness is scientifically substantiated – without a doubt, this fact can clearly determine the choice of a diet – for example, the author’s Sybarit system is not a medical diet.

Medical diet for weight loss as a second plus, it contains the normalization of metabolism – only after that the weight will stabilize at the required level.

The third advantage of a medical diet for weight loss is that there is no strictly defined diet menu – you have the right to change the diet within the limits of what is permitted at your discretion (in most nutrition clinics this is problematic).

And fourthly, medical diet for weight loss significantly more balanced in terms of the presence of a complex of minerals and vitamins – comparatively opposite – the watermelon diet.

The medical obesity diet shows relatively low results in weight loss (compared to the fast chocolate diet) – weight loss will be about 0,3 kilograms per day (on average).

The second disadvantage of a medical diet for weight loss closely intersects with its dignity – the absence of a strict diet menu (as, for example, in the French diet), which will require, when trying to follow all dietary recommendations at home, careful menu calculation for a large number of parameters.
