Measuring blood pressure with underwear

In most developed countries, mortality from cardiovascular diseases such as hypertension and heart failure is on the rise. This creates a demand for a long period of continuous monitoring of the vital parameters of patients, which makes it possible to assess the efficiency of the cardiovascular system.

Blood pressure monitoring devices currently in use are limited to hospital use and are not designed for continuous or regular monitoring.

In this regard, the concept of creating a modern continuous monitoring device was developed, taking into account all the basic requirements. The new device will use the so-called “dry electrodes” that do not require conductive pastes or gels for their use. They will be made of special conductive rubber, and they will be located in the lumbar region.

In addition to blood pressure parameters, the new device will be able to provide data such as body temperature, pulse rate and heart rate. All this information will be stored on the ROM of the device and regularly provided to the attending physician. In case of deviation from the norm of one of the parameters, the device will signal this to the user.

The new clothing will certainly be very popular in medicine, but perhaps it will also interest the military, because the range of use of “smart” clothing for military purposes can be extremely diverse.
