Kyphoscoliosis

General description of the disease

Kyphoscoliosis is a curvature of the spine of an acquired or congenital nature. This disease combines 2 diseases: kyphosis and scoliosis, due to which the spine is severely curved (to the right or to the left).

Congenital kyphoscoliosis begins its intensive development in the first year of a child’s life. Basically, the first signs of improper posture in a child are observed when he begins to sit. It is worth noting that a concomitant problem with kyphoscoliosis is disturbances in the functioning of the genitourinary system. Therefore, it is worth doing her examination as early as possible so that no chronic diseases develop.

Acquired kyphoscoliosis occurs in adolescent children (12-15 years old). It mainly develops due to carrying weights on one shoulder, improper sitting at the table during classes, due to postural incontinence. At first, stoop and scoliosis appear, and then they develop into kyphoscoliosis. Boys suffer from this disease 4 times more often than girls.

Causes of kyphoscoliosis:

  1. 1 congenital kyphoscoliosis appears due to improper formation of the fetus and its further development in the womb;
  2. 2 heredity;
  3. 3 injuries;
  4. 4 incorrect posture;
  5. 5 past surgery on the spine;
  6. 6 stress caused by mental disorders and psychological trauma;
  7. 7 neoplasms on the spine;
  8. 8 the presence of osteochondrosis.

Symptoms of kyphoscoliosis:

  • constant severe pain in the back;
  • slouch;
  • with physical exertion, shortness of breath appears;
  • enuresis and encopresis;
  • decreased sensitivity of the lower extremities;
  • the muscles of the legs, back, chest, shoulders, buttocks are poorly developed;
  • fast fatiguability.

Depending on the curvature, 4 degrees of kyphoscoliosis are distinguished:

  1. 1 there is a slight twisting and deviation of the spine to the right;
  2. 2 more pronounced deviation to the side, well noticeable twisting;
  3. 3 the chest is deformed, the rib hump grows;
  4. 4 deformed chest, spine, pelvis, there is a hump in front and behind.

Useful products for kyphoscoliosis

You constantly need to follow a special diet, which requires the use of foods rich in vitamins of groups B (namely, B1 and B2), C, P, PP, containing potassium and magnesium salts.

It is recommended to eat products made from dough, cereals, pasta, noodles, poultry and low-fat fish, you need to eat at least 3 eggs a week, eat a lot of vegetables, berries, fruits and gravy from them. The body must receive the required amount of vegetable fats. It is worth drinking more juices, compotes. You can drink coffee and tea, but not heavily brewed.

Traditional medicine for kyphoscoliosis

At the heart of alternative medicine in the treatment of kyphoscoliosis, an emphasis is placed on therapeutic gymnastics, then there is a massage (once every half a year, you must undergo a 2-week course).

Here are some examples of exercises for remedial gymnastics:

  • Get on all fours, extend your right arm straight out, and extend your left leg from the back. Hold this position for a few seconds. Do 10 of these reps. You need to do the same for the second pair.
  • Stand with your back to the wall (without touching it – for this you need to keep a distance of one step). Place your feet at the level of your shoulders, bend your knees. Bend back so that the back of your head reaches the wall. So you need to stand for half a minute. The exercise requires 3-4 repetitions. If the first time you did not manage to touch the wall with the back of your head, then you should not terrorize yourself. So it will turn out after a while, as muscles, bones, joints will develop. If you do the exercise forcibly, you can get injured.
  • Stand straight, put your feet next to each other, stretch your arms to the top, make a lock out of your palm. Inhale and at the same time stretch to the top and stand on your toes. When you exhale, you must descend. The exercise should be repeated 5 times.
  • Lie on your back, focus on your head and elbows. Inhale and bend, lifting yourself to the anchor points. Exhaling – lower yourself to the floor. Repeat 4-5 times.
  • For the back, useful squats, bends, turns with a stick.

These exercises will strengthen the muscles of the pelvic, shoulder and spinal regions, and stretch the pectoral muscles. This will help correct the curvature over time.

General recommendations for patients with cofoscoliosis:

  1. 1 you can not jump and lift heavy;
  2. 2 need to sleep on a bed with a firm mattress;
  3. 3 move as much as possible;
  4. 4 if, due to the curvature of the steel of different heights (lengths) of the legs, then it is necessary to wear special shoes with corrective soles (where the leg is shorter, there the thickness of the sole is greater);
  5. 5 you cannot stand on one leg for a long time;
  6. 6 briefcases and bags cannot be carried on the same shoulder.
