In the summer, hot water in apartments is often turned off, so many residents prefer boilers. Owners of country houses also often purchase them. But it is one thing to choose and buy, another thing is to install a water heater. We will tell you what type of equipment is better to choose for self-connection.
Types of water heaters
Let’s figure out what boilers are: their principle of operation is different. We wrote more on this topic in the article “How to choose a water heater in an apartment.” Let’s see how some of them work:
- Flow type. They are equipped with flowing heating elements, the water heats up instantly, so there is constant access to it. The compact dimensions of the case, coupled with a modern design, allow you to place them anywhere. The flow rate is calculated based on the needs of the user. The disadvantage is the high power consumption. To get a strong pressure, choose a device of at least 6 kW. During the connection, you will have to equip a separate wiring.
- storage type. Tanks of various sizes are provided, where water accumulates. Heating occurs with the help of a heating element. The technique consumes much less electricity – 1,5-2 kW. Thanks to the thermal insulation layer in the case, only 0,5 degrees of heat is lost during the “rest”.
Boilers are also divided according to the type of heating:
- Electrical. Connect to a 220 V network.
- Gas. Requires main installation. If you have gas, then choose just such a technique. This way you save on fuel.
- Indirect. Suitable for installation in a private house, since solid or diesel fuel is required for operation.
It is safe to install only electric heaters. In other cases, it is better to consult a specialist.
Where is the water heater installed?
Boilers are divided into several types based on the type of installation. It can be:
- Floor models. They are designed for a large volume of water and take up a lot of space, so they are more suitable for private homes. A stand is installed on the floor, where the case is attached. It is important that it is level. For this, adjusting bolts are provided on the bottom.
- Built-in appliances. Their installation is carried out under the sink or in specially designated cabinets.
- Wall models most often bought for an apartment. They take up minimal space. In addition, you can choose a vertical or horizontal placement method. It is best to place it in the toilet or in the bathroom.
What you need to know, what rules to follow before installing equipment:
- The boiler should be located close to the fence points. The shorter the pipes, the less chance of water freezing.
- When buying built-in appliances, you do not need to completely sew it into the closet. Do not place the device close to a wall or other equipment. The water heater requires periodic maintenance, and for this you need a place.
- Decide on the model in advance to prepare everything you need. It may be necessary to replace the wiring for the flow one, and for the accumulative one, install strong mounts in the wall.
- Appliances with a large tank capacity should only be placed on a load-bearing wall. Anchor bolts are considered the most reliable fasteners.
How to install a boiler with your own hands
Tools and materials
If you figured out the wiring and selection of a place, prepare everything you need for work:
- roulette wheel;
- perforator with a drill;
- wrenches and wrenches;
- passages;
- Screwdriver Set;
- a hammer.
Additional materials needed:
- tow;
- fum tape;
- tees;
- cranes;
- connecting hoses;
- metal-plastic pipes;
- automatic RCD (if not included).
Flow installation
If you want to connect an instantaneous water heater, look, it is portable and stationary. Portable will fit perfectly in the country, suitable for use in the summer. It comes with a hose with a shower head.
All you need is to choose a place near the fence point. Mark the wall mounts, drill holes and install the brackets. Hang the device, connect the nozzle.
Do not forget to take into account the range of the outlet, because the protochnik is connected to the network.
Stationary placement has some differences. Since the dimensions of the case are small, it can be fixed to the wall with ordinary dowels with a diameter of 6×60 mm. The housing should be placed evenly, so measure the distance between the fasteners on the tank rail with a tape measure. Then drill appropriate holes in the wall. Insert the anchors and hang the heater on them.

Installation of storage
Installation of the storage heater is carried out according to the scheme:
This type is more in demand because it is practical and consumes much less electricity.
Since the storage boiler has a considerable weight, its installation must be carried out tightly. What to hang a tank of 120 liters on? The kit usually comes with support bars and dowels. The diameter of the latter is at least 1,2 cm. If anchors are provided according to the instructions, their cross section must be at least 1,6 cm.
To secure the case, do this:
- Attach the support strips to the wall.
- Secure them with the supplied screws, pre-drilling holes for them.
- Mount the dowels and hang the tank.
Two supports are sufficient for hanging a horizontal tank, while four are used for vertical ones.
When installing, make sure that all heater hoses and tubes are located as indicated in the instructions. Otherwise, there will be connection problems later.
If the kit does not come with straps, but simply brackets are attached, carefully mark up. With an error of a millimeter, the tank mounts “do not sit” on the brackets.
After the completion of all work, the control is adjusted. To remove trapped air in the case, fill it with water. The instruction manual will help you to correctly set the temperature and mode.
