In Japan, fish are fed with chocolate: sushi is so beautiful

Sushi is a dish that inspires experimentation. So, we have already talked about a restaurant that serves an unusual compliment to guests – sushi on a grain of rice. And here’s another unusual innovation regarding sushi.

Kura Sushi, a Japanese sushi restaurant chain, decided to surprise its customers on the eve of Valentine’s Day. Here, from February 1 to February 14, very unusual sushi is sold – from fish fed with chocolate.

Of course, fish are not fed with pure chocolate. This is a special food containing chocolate. This food was developed in collaboration with experts from the Research Institute of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Ehime Prefecture.

The yellowtails were the first to taste the chocolate food. In winter, sushi with yellowtail (Buri) is especially popular, so it was decided to conduct the first tests on this type of fish. Very good ones.

On the farm, the yellowtails were fed chocolate food, as a result of which the fish did not acquire a chocolate taste at all. The meat of the yellowtails, however, was saturated with the polyphenols found in chocolate, making the fish color brighter and therefore more attractive from a marketing point of view.

The restaurant notes that Buri, made from chocolate-fed yellowtails, look more appetizing and generally more attractive.

We will remind, earlier we told readers about which sushi are good for health.
