Early diagnosis of pregnancy is of great importance both for women who dream of becoming a mother and for those whose plans for the birth of a child are not yet included. You can find out about the onset of pregnancy one and a half to two weeks after conception.

How to identify early pregnancy

One of the most important signs of pregnancy is a delay in the next menstrual bleeding, and it is from the day it is supposed to begin that most women begin to listen to themselves and conduct various tests to make sure that conception has occurred. There are many indirect signs by which one can judge the presence of pregnancy.

The most famous of them:

  • swelling and tenderness of the mammary glands
  • hypersensitivity to odors and even intolerance to certain aromas
  • nausea, sometimes accompanied by vomiting
  • increased urination
  • weakness, drowsiness, loss of strength, decreased performance
  • changing taste preferences

Some of these signs may appear before menstruation is delayed, however, even if all of the listed symptoms are present, pregnancy cannot be diagnosed with XNUMX% accuracy.

Often a woman feels pregnant, giving out wishful thinking, and therefore, when the “critical days” do come, she experiences great disappointment and the collapse of all hopes. You can avoid this by going through a series of studies.

Reliable ways to determine pregnancy at a short time

Diagnosing pregnancy using a pharmacy test is very popular due to its simplicity and affordability. However, it is only a stretch to call it reliable. The fact is that the test reacts to the presence in the woman’s body of the “pregnancy hormone” – chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), and its concentration in the urine in the early stages is negligible. In this regard, the test often shows a false negative result, disappointing a woman or, conversely, giving her false hope (if pregnancy is undesirable).

An alternative to a home test is a hCG blood test. It can be done within 10-14 days after conception. In addition, by monitoring the level of the hormone in the blood over time, you can make sure that the pregnancy is developing in accordance with the real term.

HCG in the blood doubles every 36-48 hours. Inconsistency of the hormone level with the established norms may indicate the pathology of pregnancy or even its spontaneous interruption

Early pregnancy can be determined using ultrasound. Normally, the ovum should be visible in the uterus as early as three weeks after conception. If you wait a little longer and do the examination for 5-6 weeks, you can see the embryo and its heartbeat.

A woman can also learn about pregnancy from a doctor. With the help of a manual examination, a gynecologist can diagnose an enlargement of the uterus, which just indicates that conception has occurred and the fetus is developing.
