How to extend the life of bananas at home

Overseas bananas have taken root with us and are so loved that they are not inferior in popularity even to our apples, but unlike the second, they cannot be stored for a long time. We all watched as they begin to become covered with dark spots, the skin dries out and putrefactive areas appear. There was an opinion that they can stay in the refrigerator longer, but this turned out to be a delusion, since in the refrigerator the skin becomes dark and the banana does not want to stay fresh longer at this temperature. But there are ways to extend the shelf life of a ripe banana:

  1. Buy fruits without external damage (dents, cracks);
  2. Be sure to remove them from the polyethylene;
  3. Store bananas outside the refrigerator at room temperature and out of direct sunlight;
  4. Now for the main hack! Wrap the banana leg tightly in plastic wrap. The fact is that the main component for ripening is ethylene gas, which, getting through the stems and stalks into the fruit itself, contributes to its ripening. The film tourniquet will slow the spread of ethylene and stop banana spoilage.
  5. If you intend to buy a large number of bananas, prefer fruits with a greenish skin. Leave some of them at room temperature, and for the rest, wrap the legs in plastic, put them in a paper bag and put them in a dark place, not in the refrigerator!

Recall that earlier we talked about how you can use banana peel, and also shared facts about bananas that will surprise you.
