How to decorate your home to create a festive atmosphere

Some are looking forward to the New Year, for them it is a time of miracles, the fulfillment of desires. Others are annoyed by forced fun. Indeed, at the end of the year, fatigue accumulates, and summing up is not always encouraging. But there is a sure way to bring back the festive mood and immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the holiday.

Preparing for the holidays will help take your mind off problems and improve your mood. The easiest and most effective option is to decorate the rooms in which you spend the most time: your home and place of work. This method works great because it uses several psychological tricks at once:

  1. Start by cleaning the room and throw away the trash ━ this will free you from unpleasant memories and make the room cleaner;
  2. The choice, purchase and, moreover, the independent production of decor items switch thoughts to pleasant things and infect with a festive mood. Set a budget in advance and choose a color scheme ━ a clear plan will make shopping easier. By the way, there are many videos on the Internet with instructions on how to make original jewelry yourself or with your children;
  3. Joint classes, especially preparation for the holidays, bring people together, help to establish relationships in the family and in the team. To get started, ask relatives and colleagues how they want to decorate the interior;
  4. The decorated space will change ━ there will be a feeling of novelty and satisfaction from the work done;
  5. The decor will hide interior imperfections, and the garlands of light bulbs will provide soft lighting if you set them to a slow flicker.

The main trend in New Year’s decoration is environmental friendliness. Live uncut spruce in a pot can be rented or bought and planted in the country or in the yard. Indoors, the plant should be placed away from heaters and watered 1-2 times a week. The role of a festive tree can be played by a figure in the form of a spruce made of natural materials – dry branches, living branches of nobilis, fabrics, cardboard. Nobilis ━ is a type of fir, its needles do not crumble, and therefore it is often used to decorate homes.

For decor, it is appropriate to use cones, nuts, twigs, acorns, dry slices of orange and lemon. Or use traditional balls, ready-made compositions and wreaths. An interesting option is to decorate the room in the style of your favorite New Year’s movie.

The symbol of 2020 according to the Chinese calendar is the white metal Rat. It sets the color scheme: white, gray, silver and gold. Combinations of red and gold or blue and silver colors look festive. In the decor, metal jewelry will look appropriate: figurines, candlesticks.

There is a psychological law: the more joy and kindness you give to others, the happier your soul becomes.

In winter, when it gets dark early, the best decoration is light garlands and figures. They attract attention, are associated with the holidays and even help to hide the imperfections of the room. Choose light bulbs in warm colors that create coziness. A white glow color is suitable for almost any interior, but there are also yellow, blue and multi-colored options.

From the garlands, you can fold the silhouette of a spruce on the wall, hang them like curtains on the windows or fix them on the protruding parts of the furniture. Luminous figures ━ Santa Claus, polar bears, deer also look interesting. Place them near the spruce, on the windowsill or in the corner of the room.

There is a psychological law: the more joy and kindness you give to others, the happier your soul becomes. To consolidate the result, organize the New Year’s decoration of the facade and the local area. It is also appropriate to use light garlands here, because other decorations are invisible in the dark.

If a spruce does not grow near the house, it does not matter, you can follow the popular trend and decorate any tree near the house with garlands and balls.
