Reading time – 3 minutes.

If you bought condensed milk for bottling or in soft packaging, and then wanted to cook boiled milk, the usual rules for boiling condensed milk in a tin can will not work for you. It is very important to avoid high temperatures and scorching. To do this, cook it using a regular glass jar. We take a saucepan, put a metal stand, a plate or a folded kitchen towel on its bottom so that the glass does not burst and the condensed milk does not burn. Condensed milk must be poured into the jar so that the water is above the level of the poured condensed milk, well, below the edge of the jar, so that boiling water is not poured into the condensed milk. The pot should be high enough.

We put a lid on top of the jar, a little larger – or turn it over. We set the heat to medium and after boiling, we reduce it. Condensed milk is brewed for 1,5 to 2,5 hours. We monitor the water level in the pan, it should be sufficient throughout the entire cooking time, if necessary, add hot water immediately so that the glass does not crack from the pressure drop. The finished boiled should become dark, thick and very tasty. If the condensed milk has darkened, but has not become thick, it means that the condensed milk contains low-quality milk and sugar, or the manufacturer has supplemented the recipe with vegetable oils. It is best to thicken such condensed milk – or boil over the one that will definitely thicken.
