How to choose oatmeal cookies

Cookies, like many other products, should only be bought in trusted stores. So you know for sure that the seller will not deceive you and will not mix fresh goods with old ones. This is often done, for example, in the markets. As a result, one package contains both soft and crumbly biscuits and old, tough and brittle biscuits. This happens less often with cookies already wrapped in a plastic bag. Just pay attention: the bag must be tightly sealed, and there must be no moisture inside.

1. Be sure to read the information on the package. According to GOST 24901-2014, oatmeal must contain at least 14% oat flour (or flakes) and no more than 40% sugar.

2. The expiration date will also tell a lot about the composition of the product. If the period is about 6 months, then there are chemical additives in the cookies.

3. There should be no burnt items in the packet of cookies. They are not only tasteless, but also unhealthy. The best option is if each cookie has a light back, and the edges and bottom are darker.

4. Blotches of particles of sugar and fruit raw materials on the surface are allowed. But the wrong shape of the cookie is not at all desirable. This means that the manufacturing technology is violated, as a result of which the dough spread out on the baking sheet. This is a serious reason to refuse a purchase.

5. Only 250 broken cookies can legally be present in a 2 gram pack. The brittleness of oatmeal cookies is not only a “cosmetic” defect, it is an indicator of overdried cookies.
