How not to use the microwave

Microwaves are small, multifunctional and simple. And, of course, thanks to these advantages, we actively use them. However, do you all know about the rules for dealing with a microwave? Let’s check!

  • Do not use plastic containers or any plastic utensils to heat food in the microwave – when heated, plastic releases toxins that partially end up in food.
  • Do not defrost frozen fruits and berries in the microwave, as some nutrients are destroyed, transforming into carcinogens.
  • Do not heat food in foil – it blocks microwaves and such an attempt can even lead to a fire.
  • Do not use “grandma’s” dishes to heat food. Their manufacturing standards were different and did not include exposure to microwaves.
  • Make sure that paper and plastic bags, washcloths, cloth and other objects not intended for this fall into the switched on device. They can transmit carcinogens to food when exposed to microwaves and even lead to fires.
  • Do not put thermos mugs in the microwave.
  • Make sure that there are no metal elements on the dishes that you send to the microwave (even a small metal border on the edge of the plate is dangerous) – this can cause a fire.
  • Do not cook or microwave dishes with broccoli – this will destroy up to 97% of its beneficial properties.
  • Use the microwave less often for cooking protein foods – microwaves destroy protein molecules much more than with other cooking methods.
