Gardnerellosis

General description of the disease

This is a violation of the normal microflora in the genitals of women. It is also called “bacterial vaginosis“. The disease develops only when the concentration of bacteria of the genus Gardnerella Vaginalis in a woman’s vagina increases. In the normal microflora of the intimate organs of every woman, there are small amounts of these bacteria, but when the balance of gardnerella and lactobacilli is disturbed, the first symptoms of this gynecological problem begin.

Symptoms of gardnerellosis

In its clinical manifestations, gardnerellosis is similar to other gynecological diseases of the inflammatory type. Women notice the appearance of vaginal discharge, which has a gray-white tint and an unpleasant smell of rotten fish. In addition, patients experience pain, itching, burning when urinating and during intercourse.

Causes of gardnerellosis

An imbalance in the microflora of the vagina can be caused by two groups of reasons: external and internal.

К external reasons the development of gardnerellosis include: a poor environmental situation, insufficient consumption of fermented milk products, frequent change of sexual partners and leading a promiscuous sex life, long uncontrolled intake of antibiotics, the presence of sexually transmitted diseases, excessive douching, taking birth control pills, lubricated condoms that contain 9-nonoxynol, the use of vaginal suppositories and the excessive use of hygiene products, the constant wearing of panty liners and their untimely replacement (also applies during menstruation), wearing dense, tight clothing and synthetic underwear.

К internal reasons include: hormonal disruptions during puberty, pregnancy or menopause, weak immunity, the presence of chronic diseases, intestinal dysbiosis and problems with the genitourinary system, constant nervous experiences, stress, overwork.

Gardnerellosis and men

The emergence and course of gardnerellosis in men, as such, cannot be (after all, this is a purely female disease), but serious problems can arise. When having sex with a woman who has a disturbed vaginal microflora, bacteria of the Gardnerella genus enter the man’s urethra. And if a man has a weakened body, urethritis can develop. With this disease, there is a burning sensation, itching, pain during the emission of urine.

If the individual of the stronger sex is all right with health and the immune system is not weakened, the gardnerella that gets into the urethra does not cause any harm to the body. But with all this, a man can be a carrier of these bacteria and over and over again during sexual intercourse he infects his partner. Therefore, if a woman periodically has outbreaks of the disease, then the sexual partner should also be tested for wearing bacteria and, if any, undergo a course of treatment.

Useful products for gardnerellosis

In the treatment of gardnerellosis, an important element is the patient’s nutrition. With its help, it should increase the immune system, align the microflora of not only the vagina, but also the intestinal microflora (often these diseases are associated with each other).

To fulfill the above requirements, a woman must eat well. Her body must receive the required quantities of fats, carbohydrates, proteins, macro- and microelements.

For their uninterrupted supply, you need to eat dairy products, low-fat meat, sea fish and any seafood, vegetables and fruits (both fresh and thermally processed), cereals (cereals, bread made from wholemeal flour or with bran, you can eat sprouted wheat), nuts, beans, sauerkraut, mustard seeds, vegetable oils: flaxseed, olive, sunflower, corn.

It is recommended to steam the dishes or use the cooking and stewing methods. At one time, there should be not a lot of food eaten (the whole portion should be the size of 2 woman’s fists), and the number of meals should be 4-6 times.

Traditional medicine for gardnerellosis

Treatment with traditional medicine is carried out: using medicinal infusions inside, using medicinal tampons and baths.

  • For drinking decoctions are used from sweet clover, rhizomes of marshmallow, pine and birch buds, nettle leaves, caddy, coltsfoot, wintergreen, clover flowers, calendula, badan, bearberry, leuzea, eucalyptus, mint, St. John’s wort. The broth should be drunk before meals (20-30 minutes), 100 milliliters per dose. The number of uses should be 3-4 times.
  • For making medicated tampons use 1 tablespoon of freshly squeezed carrot juice combined with 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar. This mixture is applied to a gauze pad and inserted into the vagina for 20 minutes once a day. Also, use aloe juice and sea buckthorn oil in a ratio of 1 to 1. A gauze swab is impregnated with a therapeutic mixture and inserted into the vagina before going to bed for the whole night.
  • To relieve itching, burning and pain use sessile baths of decoctions made from oak bark, chamomile, walnut leaves. Also, doctors recommend using solutions of lactic and boric acid for washing intimate places.

To increase the body’s defenses, you need to drink vitamin tea, which is prepared from: 1 quince, 2 glasses of cherries, one lemon, 10 cloves of garlic, 2 “Antonovka” apples and 9 glasses of water. All components must be crushed, filled with hot boiled water and insisted overnight. Drink 4 times a day. Dosage: half a glass at a time.
