Gout is a joint disease that is associated with the deposition of uric acid salts in the joint tissues.

Symptoms of gout

Intense joint pain, skin redness, fever and swelling in the joint area, general fever, headache and fatigue, limitation of joint movement.

Healthy foods for gout

The diet for gout should be based on the principle of eliminating foods high in uric acid (purine) and may include the following foods:

  • mineral alkaline waters;
  • freshly squeezed natural berry or fruit juices (citrus, grape, cranberry), rosehip broth;
  • vegetables (tomatoes, potatoes, carrots, cucumbers, onions, beets);
  • fruits (especially citrus fruits);
  • berries;
  • fermented milk products and milk, cheese, cottage cheese;
  • squid, shrimp;
  • linseed, olive or butter;
  • cereals and flour products (no frills);
  • nuts (avocado, pine nuts, pistachios, almonds, hazelnuts);
  • honey;
  • certain types of meat and fish (salmon, poultry, woodworm, salmon, haddock, mackerel, trout);
  • rye or wheat bread;
  • borsch, cabbage soup, pickle, milk soup, beetroot soup, fruit and vegetarian soups;
  • maximum one egg per day;
  • milk, tomato, sour cream sauce;
  • citric acid;
  • greens (parsley, dill).

Sample menu for gout for a week

  1. 1 day

    Early breakfast: oatmeal, cucumber salad, mineral water.

    Second breakfast: fruit jelly, low-fat cottage cheese.

    Lunch: baked zucchini with vegetables and rice in sour cream sauce, vegetable soup, milk with strawberries.

    Dinner: tomato juice, cottage cheese pancakes, cabbage cutlets.

    At night: apples.

  2. 2 day

    Early breakfast: carrot salad with sour cream, milk rice porridge, weak tea with lemon, one soft-boiled egg.

    Second breakfast: apple juice, young potatoes with cucumbers.

    Lunch: cottage cheese casserole, vegetable soup with sour cream, milk jelly.

    Dinner: baked apples in a protein omelet, fruit juice.

    At night: kefir.

  3. 3 day

    Early breakfast: cabbage salad, noodles with cottage cheese, fruit juice.

    Second breakfast: fruit juice, potato pancakes.

    Lunch: vegetarian borscht, cheese, boiled meat in milk sauce, mashed potatoes, lemon jelly.

    Dinner: vegetable stew, cheese cakes with sour cream, fruit jelly.

    At night: apples.

  4. 4 day

    Early breakfast: boiled soft-boiled egg, apple and cabbage salad, buckwheat milk porridge, mineral water.

    Second breakfast: casserole of apples and carrots, tea with lemon.

    Lunch: pickle with sour cream on vegetable broth, black currant jelly, pancakes with cottage cheese.

    Dinner: baked pumpkin in sour cream, apples stuffed with cottage cheese, apple juice.

    At night: curdled milk.

  5. 5 day

    Early breakfast: fresh tomatoes, fruit jelly, cottage cheese with sour cream.

    Second breakfast: cabbage cutlets in sour cream, pomegranate juice.

    Lunch: soup with homemade noodles, stuffed cabbage rolls with cottage cheese and buckwheat in sour cream sauce, fresh grapes.

    Dinner: carrot cutlets, curd pudding with sour cream, fruit compote.

    At night: apples.

  6. 6 day

    Early breakfast: vegetable salad, one egg omelet, millet porridge, tea with jam.

    Second breakfast: carrot zrazy with raisins and apples, grape juice.

    Lunch: vegetarian cabbage soup, cottage cheese pudding with apples and raisins, milk jelly.

    Dinner: baked protein omelet and zucchini in sour cream, tea.

    At night: kefir.

  7. 7 day

    Early breakfast: salad of apples, tomatoes and cucumbers, milk with cottage cheese, fruit compote.

    Second breakfast: baked cabbage, fruit jelly.

    Lunch: boiled rice with chicken, okroshka on kefir, baked apples.

    Dinner: pearl barley with cottage cheese, vegetable stew, tea.

    At night: natural yogurt.

Folk remedies for gout

  • herbal baths (herbs to choose from: herb of medicinal soap, oat straw, roots of stinging nettle, chamomile inflorescences, medicinal sage, pine branches, black currant leaves);
  • infusion based on honey (two hundred grams of garlic, three hundred grams of onions, chop half a kilogram of cranberries and leave for a day in a dark place, add one kilogram of honey) take a teaspoon three times a day before meals;
  • grated fresh carrots (one hundred grams daily, with vegetable oil).

Dangerous and harmful foods for gout

You should limit the use of such products: salt, sausages, fatty boiled fish and meat, mushrooms, bacon, legumes, pickles, certain types of vegetables (spinach, sorrel, cauliflower, celery, radish). And also exclude from the diet: meat extracts, offal (kidneys, lungs, brains, liver), smoked meats, canned fish and meat, hot spices, chocolate and cocoa, spices, strong tea and coffee, alcohol (especially beer and wine), spicy cheese, mushroom or fish broths, figs, herring, raspberries, rhubarb, horseradish, mustard, black pepper.
