Florence banned eating on the streets

Yes, on four historic streets in Italian Florence it is no longer possible to eat your mother’s favorite sandwich.

These are the streets of Via de Neri, Piazzale degli Uffizi, Piazza del Grano and Via della Ninna.

This new rule is in effect from 12 noon to 15 pm and from 18 pm to 22 pm. And this ban will apply on January 6, 2019. It is not yet known whether it will be extended after.

Why did this happen?

The thing is that the locals are pretty tired of the fact that tourists are constantly eating on the street. On the old streets, this even interferes with the already calm movement – everyone is chewing and chewing. Here, under the onslaught of the townspeople, the Mayor of Florence Dario Nardella had to adopt such an unpleasant law for tourists.

What awaits violators?

Tourists will have to pay a fine of 500 euros if they are seen eating on the above streets.
