Emotional vulnerability is the traumatization of the soul, the inability to protect oneself from painful experiences.
People are emotionally vulnerable to varying degrees: someone is hurt by minor problems, someone is more affected by large “torpedoes”. Usually, children are more likely to react to little things, not noticing major events: Why is there a war, my little engine has broken down! It is common for older children to react to major events to a greater extent, but in approximately the same ways: deep resentment, mental distress, desperate hysteria, sad experience.
An adult is wise, and therefore less vulnerable.
Reasons for emotional vulnerability
- Tendency to have a negative attitude
- Low self-esteem, maladaptive beliefs, and inability (or unwillingness) to manage their experiences
- The surprise of what happened
- Poor health, poor physical condition
