Eco-friendly first aid kit for the summer

 

Among the products that are used both in cosmetic personal care and for medicinal purposes, essential oils can be distinguished. Despite the abundance of information, many of them cause suspicion. It is important to note here that in order to achieve the effect, the oils must be natural. It is not known what the body’s reaction to unnatural oil will be.

The effectiveness of natural oils has been proven both by various studies in the field of biochemistry, and by the experience of many generations who have used them in treatment. We recommend keeping the following oils in your first aid kit: lavender, tea tree, peppermint, chamomile, eucalyptus, rosemary, lemon, and cloves. 

Lavender – oil, which helps relieve nervous tension, pain, is a natural antibiotic and antiseptic. It can be used to disinfect the skin. The oil has a strengthening effect on the immune system. When applied to a wound, it stimulates an active process of cell regeneration. If you put a few drops of lavender oil on your skin, you can avoid insect bites. Mosquitoes, midges do not like lavender. Perfect for summer outings! For sprains, muscle pain, back pain and joint pain, regular massage with lavender oil is recommended. Also, lavender oil is used for respiratory diseases: cough, cold, nasal congestion. In this case, the oil is used either in the form of steam or applied to the neck and chest. 

Tea tree – oil with antiviral, antibacterial and antifungal properties. Effectively fights some infections that are resistant to antibiotics. Interestingly, the antiseptic property of tea tree is many times higher than that of carbolic acid. It is used only for local treatment. With the help of oil, candidiasis, fungal infections of the skin and nails (100% concentration), toothache, acne (5% concentration), sunburn can be treated. 

Peppermint. Mint has been used as a medicine by various peoples since ancient times. Peppermint essential oil has an effect on the human nervous system, helps relieve stress, restore strength in case of fatigue. Oil helps the digestive tract, lungs and circulatory system. The use of oil for colds is effective – mint kills viruses and microbes. Peppermint oil helps to relieve almost any pain: migraine, menstruation, toothache. For those suffering from seasickness, mint can help relieve nausea and dizziness. Peppermint oil is also used for skin irritations. The smell of mint repels rodents, fleas and ants.

 

Chamomile. Even in ancient Egypt and ancient Greece, they knew about the healing properties of chamomile. It was considered a means of combating serious epidemics like malaria. The essential oil of medicinal chamomile (German or Roman) is known for its anti-inflammatory properties. This applies to both internal and external inflammation. Chamomile is an indispensable helper in a house where there are children: it is a remedy for pain when cutting teeth. Chamomile oil is an effective antiseptic and disinfectant. Chamomile oil can also be used to treat burns, psoriasis, eczema, asthma, diarrhea, depressive disorders. 

Eucalyptus. Eucalyptus oil cools the body in the heat of summer and warms in winter. It has anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, diuretic and antiviral properties. The antiseptic properties of eucalyptus are superior even to medications such as penicillin. Eucalyptus oil destroys and inhibits the growth of staphylococci, streptococci, Trichomonas and typhoid pathogens. To a greater extent, eucalyptus is known as a remedy for colds, a quick and effective remedy for a runny nose and cough. If you rinse your mouth with preparations containing eucalyptus, then in an hour all viruses will disappear in the oral mucosa. Eucalyptus is also effective for cystitis, pyelonephritis and sunburn. 

Rosemary. Rosemary oil is a natural tonic, suitable for morning and evening baths, affects the emotional background, relieves fatigue. At the same time, unlike other analgesics, it does not make you sleepy, on the contrary, composure and concentration appear. It has bactericidal properties: the substances contained in it prevent the growth of bacteria. The oil relieves spasms, anesthetizes, helps with muscle injuries, arthritis, rheumatism, migraines.

Lemon. The conquerors of the seas have long been saved from adversity with lemons, which have a tonic effect on the lymph and stimulate the digestive tract. Lemon essential oil is an antiseptic, has an antibacterial property, stimulates the immune system by increasing the number of white blood cells. Lemon is a good helper for poisoning and fever. 

Carnation. Its oil has antibacterial, antiseptic properties, is a strong natural analgesic. Suitable for the prevention of infections, promotes recovery during colds. Clove is effective in healing lesions in the oral cavity, helps with toothache. The oil is used for gastrointestinal disorders, muscle problems, asthma, nausea. Without dilution, it is better not to apply the oil to the skin. 

Other items that may come in handy in the first aid kit: 

elderberry syrup. This tool can be used at the first symptoms of a cold as an alternative to the pharmacy Teraflu and other medicines. Elderberry helps to cope with respiratory diseases, has antiviral properties. Elderberry has a positive effect on the digestive tract, helps with constipation and increased gas formation. The plant has diuretic, diaphoretic and choleretic properties. 

Sodium Ascorbate (Vitamin C) – antioxidant and antihistamine, helps in the treatment of bacterial diseases, infections. Vitamin C is an essential nutrient that the body needs to replenish regularly. It improves and maintains healthy skin and bones, plays an important role in many biochemical reactions, supports the body’s immune system by protecting cells from oxidative stress. 

Black cumin oil blocks the activity of inflammatory processes, a powerful antioxidant. Applicable in the treatment of allergic reactions. The oil is effective in combating pathogenic flora. At the same time, it was found that, unlike antibiotics, the oil works selectively, without disturbing the balance of beneficial intestinal microflora and without causing dysbacteriosis. The oil is used for skin diseases, ear pain, runny nose. 

Pepper plaster used for severe pain in those suffering from osteochondrosis, sciatica. Pepper plaster helps to cope with a cold, with a dry cough it helps to remove phlegm. Effective in diseases of the respiratory tract. 

Živica. This natural product is obtained from the resin of coniferous trees (pine, cedar). Ointments and oils with gum are used to prevent and treat colds: gum helps get rid of coughs, stops inflammation. Remedies with resin have an antiseptic and analgesic effect: resin relieves abscesses, heals wounds, bruises and burns.
