Propylene glycol alginate (Propylene glycol alginate, Propane-1 ‘2-diol alginate, propane-1’ 2-diol alginate, E405) is a salt of alginic acid based on polyatomic alcohol propylene glycol.
It is easily soluble in water and thus a high-viscosity solution is obtained.
It is used as a thickener, stabilizer and emulsifier in the production of fruit and alcoholic beverages, fats, baking mixes; in cosmetics, in pharmacy, etc.
