Disgusting food exhibition to open in Sweden

On Halloween, October 31, the world’s first exhibition of this kind will open its doors. It will be possible to see, be amazed and wince at the sight and smell in the Swedish city of Malmo. It is there that 80 of the most unappetizing and unpleasant food products will be demonstrated.

Here you can see with your own eyes the most controversial dishes from around the world – haukarl (rotten Icelandic dried shark with the smell of ammonia), surstremming (Swedish pickled herring with an equally disgusting smell), durian fruit, popular in Southeast Asia, known for its repulsive smell, kasu marzu (Sardinian cheese with live fly larvae), raw bovine penis on a cutting board, and more.

Since many exhibits, in addition to a terrible look, have an equally terrible smell, they will be in special flasks.

About half of the products on display are perishable, so they will have to be replaced at least every two days, making the museum a very expensive project.

Museum organizer, Samuel West, believes that a visit to the Museum of Disgusting Food will not only be an interesting and educational event, but will also change the way people think about sustainable sources of protein, such as insects, which today cause disgust to many.

The exhibition will be available for visiting for three months and will last until January 31, 2019.
