Decoupage: technique

It is always pleasant to have an object with history in your home. And made with your own hands – doubly. The Woman’s Day editorial team will talk about the aging technique using the example of decorating a tray. Having learned a few simple rules, you can transform any thing in this way.

You will need:

Wooden blank. In this case, the tray

Wide brush

Soft cloth

Wax candle

Acrylic paints: white and brown

Sandpaper (sanding) paper (medium-grained)

Adhesive for decoupage

Napkins for decoupage

How to do:

We’ll skin our tray well. Then we cover the sides outside and inside with brown paint. We wait until it dries.

After that, rub the corners of the sides thoroughly with a wax candle. We go through the places that we plan to age. Remove excess wax from the tray.

Then completely cover the tray with white paint. Let it dry thoroughly.

Gently scrape off the white paint from the corners with sandpaper. It can be removed easily, as the wax did not give the paint a good adhesion.

Now we start decorating. We cut out flowers or other pattern from a decoupage napkin. We coat it well with glue on the back and glue it to the tray. Smooth with a cloth from the center to the edges. With glue-gel, you can walk over the top of the picture.
