For a comfortable life, a cage with a minimum size of 60 by 30 cm is suitable for a hamster. The bottom of the cage should be filled with loose filler. This will keep you clean and free from bad odors. You will also need a feeder and drinker, a jogging wheel, and a mineral stone so that your pet can grind its teeth.

Anyone can handle the maintenance of hamsters at home.

Here are some basic care guidelines.

  • Don’t shout near the cage. This will cause a lot of stress on the pet.
  • Perform regular dental hygiene and feed your hamster solid food to prevent the teeth from growing too fast.

You need to feed pets twice a day. One meal must be in the evening. Moreover, it is this meal that should be the most satisfying and high-calorie, since hamsters are especially active at night. Once a day, the hamster should be fed a balanced commercial food, and the second time with natural food. It can be potatoes, pumpkins, carrots, pears, apples, grains, nuts, seeds, boiled lean meat, fish oil.

It is strictly forbidden to give hamsters onions and garlic, any citruses, exotic fruits. This will negatively affect their health.

There should always be at least a couple of grains in the hamster’s feeder.
