Say goodbye to skinny-eyebrows, the fashion for fine and refined eyebrows that was all the rage in the 90s. Today, the trend is for thick, full eyebrows, the signature of it-girl Cara Delevingne. But while it is relatively easy to refine an overly bushy eyebrow, it seems less obvious to thicken a slightly shy eyebrow.

Brow lift is therefore the popular technique that reproduces this much sought-after effect by enhancing and thickening the eyebrows. Contrary to what its name might suggest, the Brow lift is absolutely not an invasive facelift technique: no surgery or scalpel therefore! Very soft and painless, the Brow lift consists of disciplining the hairs by brushing them upwards to enlarge the eyes and rejuvenate the face – hence the lifting effect.

A Brow lift session in an institute lasts between 30 minutes and 1 hour on average and takes place in several stages:

• a first keratin-based product is first placed on the eyebrow, the role of which is to relax and soften the hair. It should sit for about 5 minutes after which the product is eliminated;
• a second product is then applied to fix the hair as it has been positioned, the hair upwards. The exposure time goes from 10 to 15 minutes for this step;
• according to the customer’s request, a dye can then be applied, to densify the slightly light eyebrows;
• to protect and nourish the eyebrows, a final product with restorative properties is then applied;
• finally, the last step is to pluck the eyebrows if necessary, for a perfect finish. Hair removal is never done at the beginning, because the products applied to the eyebrows could irritate the freshly depilated skin.

If the Brow lift is a technique that comes under the services of a beauty institute, there have recently been fairly easy to use Brow lift kits, which allow good results to be obtained at lower costs. These kits contain 4 small bottles (lifting, fixing, nourishing and cleansing), a brush and a brush.

Their limits: they do not contain dye, and the depilation step – which is as delicate as it is important for a perfect result – remains in the hands of the customer. The result will therefore be less spectacular than when it is done in a beauty salon.

Very good alternative to the more radical techniques of microblading or cosmetic tattooing, the Brow lift is suitable for almost all types of eyebrows, whatever their nature, density and color. When fine eyebrows appear fuller, very bushy ones will be tamed and shaped. Only very sparse eyebrows or eyebrows with holes may not achieve good results.

The best clients for brow lift are eyebrows, whose hairs tend to fall out or curl.

In order for the Brow lift to last as long as possible, it is recommended to avoid any contact with water for 24 hours after the operation, and to limit the use of eyebrow makeup. To maintain the lifting effect of the eyebrows, it is advisable to brush them daily with a small brush such as a mascara brush. The brow lift can last from 4 to 8 weeks, depending on the nature of the eyebrows and their maintenance.

The realization of a Brow lift in institute costs between 90 and 150 € on average. The kits sold online or in supermarkets are sold between 20 and 100 € and are of very variable quality. They generally contain enough products to do between 3 and 7 treatments.
